Chapter Twelve: The Pull

573 Words
When the pull arrived it was a faint nagging feeling that woke up the parents of the lost child from their sleep in a slow groggy way, much like a child when their parent patiently urges them awake for school. However, once the lost child’s parents realized the nagging was the pull to their daughter they immediately slid off their beds made of sea w**d, kelp, and sponges and submerged themselves fully into the ocean. The pull was so weak they knew she was in the same ocean but very far away. It would take them a while to reach her but they hoped she would feel the pull as well and head their way. Swimming out of their entrance to their bedroom the parents swam part a guard who instantly perked up and straightened out. The couple had constantly told the guard that there was no need to protect them while they were sleeping, after all what would get into the caves unnoticed? However, the guard insisted and was always there to see that they were undisturbed whole they slept. “Your majesties, is everything well?” The guard addressed the couple formally even though they had grown up together. They had told him to treat them as friends and he had for a while but he blamed himself for the loss of the princess, the little girl who was swept into the waves. Now, they would be glad for his loyalties and devotion because they would need someone to accompany them and ensure protection of not only the royal couple but also for their lost daughter. “Yes, Bryon everything is more than well. We finally feel the pull. Our daughter is finally able to be found but we need to hurry, I don’t want her to leave the water before we can find her.” The queen explained the situation in hopes that Bryon would offer to accompany them and she wasn’t disappointed. “Queen Mirabelle, King Jasper, please allow me to accompany and offer my protection to you and the princess.” Bryon bowed his head and awaited the judgement of the majesties. “Of course, Bryon, we welcome your company and appreciate your loyalty. Let’s get going. We don’t want to loose the trail.” King Jasper replied and then started swimming in the direction that the pull was leading. As the queen and Bryon swam up beside the king they started following the pull but it wasn’t very long and they didn’t get very far before the pull stopped completely. The King and Queen stopped stricken and looked around but they didn’t see anything other than the entrance to their caves partially submerged into the ocean in the distance. Bryon stopped confused before realizing that the stricken looks on the faces of the two parents meant there was no more pull to follow. It obviously wasn’t because the princess was right in front of them so either she was outside the ocean or she was no longer traceable and that wasn’t a thought that Bryon was willing to entertain because it meant she was dead. “The pull was coming from this direction so lets head that way and hopefully it will come back but at least we will be closer and possibly be able find her in the mean time.” The queen started towards the direction of the pull and the king and Bryon followed.
