WEREWOLVES

Hiraya's POV

"Your vampire blood had finally manifested" Catalina mumbled after I turned back into my normal form.

But I couldn't focus on what she was saying because of something that bothers me. A different smell, I know that it isn't a vampire scent.

Catalina seems to recover from her thoughts about my sudden changes. "We'll talk about this matter later" She whispered before turning her gaze to the crowd in front of us.

She gave our people a glare. "Someone tell me how you ended up bringing wolves within the territory" Her deadly voice asked, then glared at the six strangers, who are just eyeing the ground, standing along the rest of our coven.

W-Wolves? That explains their smell. But why are the coven's people with wolves? Our history is very vivid about the wolves and vampires being in bad terms. A never-ending rivalry is what our history books have stated. So what is this?

The whole coven was silent, no one dared to talk.

"Will you make me wait for an answer?!" Catalina's voice raised and rage laced with it.

Everyone bowed their heads out of fear and some even shook in fright, except me.

"We have good intentions. We want no harm" One of the werewolves braved to speak, the woman. There are five males, one female.

"And you expect me to believe you without even knowing you. I have never seen your faces before" Catalina scoffed.

"We helped them escape during the attack" The she-wolf bravely answered, but still within the ranges of great respect, referring to the remaining vampires who survived.

Catalina went silent for a few seconds before responding, "A good strategy to gain my trust, I assume" Catalina seriously said, looking at the strangers with blank expression.

Her very serious face is the reason of everyone's silence.

"You have my word. Once we do something bad to you and your people, you can kill me...I won't fight" One male wolf said that caused Ina's eyebrows to raise.

I narrowed my eyes at him "We sure will. Even if you put up a fight, I will kill you without hesitation" I said which shocked everyone, but Catalina.

The werewolves bowed their heads again as a sign of respect to us, convincing us of their good intentions.

"Every vampire may now go to their home and rest..." Catalina ordered which they followed.

"The six of you" Turning back her attention to the six wolves. "...follow me and Hiraya"

We are in the meeting room where the King and the Elders used to discuss important stuffs.

Catalina is seated where Mama Niera used to sit, and I am sitting down on mom's which are both beside where the King used to be settled.

The six wolves are sitting on the huge couch at one corner of this room.

"We would like to help your coven during this time of war, your both highness" One of them politely said, who I think was named Jacko.

"Why? For all we know, this war wouldn't benefit you in any way, unless you'll ask us for something in exchange of your tempting, but risky offer" I calmly stated.

Catalina stayed quiet, too focused on finding a sign of bad intention in their gestures. Typical Catalina.

The werewolves exchanged glances before one of them, Rex, answered me, "Yes, your highness. We have something we want in return of helping build your force stronger for this war. But we assure you that it is not something to bring danger to your kingdom"

This time, Catalina was the one to answer him, "Do you take us, royals of this kingdom, as fools?" Her cold voice stiffened them.

"P-Pardon us, your highness? We don't intend on insulting you in any way. We are very much sorry" The female, Liyah, spoke while bowing her head as a sign of respect and apology.

"You expect us to entrust the safety of this kingdom that's been protected for millennia to you guys whom we just met hours ago, just because you told us that you mean no harm to our kind? Do you take me and Hiraya as useless rulers to be of this coven?!" Catalina is so sensitive when it comes to these things. She can easily be insulted because since we were kids, we are already hardly trained to take the title as rulers of the kingdom, as the protectors of our kind, as the keepers of the vampire race.

I looked at the werewolves who are now tensed with their widening eyes. I also sense a little bit of fear in them.

Geez, you haven't even seen the angry Catalina with her red eyes and fangs, and you're all already afraid. Tsk tsk tsk.

"W-We're sorry if we sounded insulting, your highness. It's just that we don't also know how to earn even just a little of your trust" the one named Liam braved to say.

"King Victor" We turned to the wolf named Chester because of what he just said.

Catalina and I remained silent and waited for him to continue, and so he did, "We have a huge depth to pay. We own something that is hidden in this kingdom, your highness. Years ago, the late King Victor took in that thing and protected it with the help of his authority as the king. Your kingdom killed every intruders that tried to steal it, by the order of King Victor. That thing isn't just important to us, but the most important thing in our kind. So we are now here to have it, but it would be our pleasure to help in the war in return of your kingdom's kindness to our kind. Not just him, but the late Great Princess Victoria also had a very strong connection to us, she had contributed a lot to that thing we own, but your coven possess" He explained.

I saw how Catalina had a bit of change in mind. Having Papa Victor and mother involved in this discussion took a different turn.

Catalina look at me. We stared at each other, understood each other's minds.

She took a deep breath before turning her gaze to the werewolves in front of us, "Fine. You'll help us to win this war. But a tiny harm given to my people will cause all of your lives."

From the very start, I don't actually feel threat from them, Catalina and I just don't trust easily. But their story involving mother and Papa Victor drawn us to this decision.
