ANGER

Hiraya's POV By the moment I opened my eyes, I thought I was floating in the air. But as my eyes adjusted to its surroundings, I knew what's happening. Catalina's carrying me on her back while running with her vampire speed.  "W-What's happening, Ina?" I asked with so much confusion lurking within me. She didn't look at me and just focused on the way, I couldn't even see with this speed. All I can see around me is a blur. After a few more minutes of running, we stopped in our tracks. I can now see that we are in the middle of the forest. The sunlight giving me a clear and bright vision, the birds singing is a music to my ears, and the smell of fresh air is giving comfort to my veins. Its like nothing was wrong...I hope so. But I know there's something going on. My heart is pounding heavily in my rib cage, sensing that a problem had risen. Catalina bent her knees, letting me climb down her back. I stepped on the ground and she immediately faced me.  I stayed quiet, waiting for her to tell me everything. Why we're here, why she took me away from the vampires' coven, everything. But instead of saying anything, she walked to the sunlight, stared at the sky, my attention still glued to her. Some things that humans know about vampires are not true. Vampires can definitely eat human food, but they still need blood. Vampires won't turn into ashes because of the sun, if its true, Ina would've been gone by now. It just happens that their vampire blood is stronger at night. "Would you care to tell me what's happening, Ina?" I asked, being completely serious. Without looking at me, she said something that sent so much fear in me, "Hundreds of criminal vampires attacked the castle". "W-What?" I stuttered. She turned towards me, and a tear escaped her eye. "It was a surprise attack. A very unexpected one. They managed to kill the guards. They are stronger than the lower ranking vampires..." her tears fell and her body started to tremble, so do I. Criminal vampires are a bit stronger than lower ranking vampires. Lower ranking vampires are the ones who were turned after being saved from human death, they aren't born with the blood of a vampire. And criminal vampires are those who feed from humans, blood suckers, which is against the Council's law, the reason why they are stronger. "The high ranking vampires is there, with the council, fighting alongside the Fighters left" With that, I fell on my knees, silently crying, not wanting to believe every words that came from her. "They didn't let me fight. They want me to just keep you safe and escape" She continued with a low voice that turned out to a whisper. That only means that our parents are there, fighting and risking their lives. My mom is one of the elders, mama Niera too. And papa Victor is the king. They were left with no choice but to defend their people. Without me noticing it, Ina is already beside me, hugging me tightly. "Hush now, Aya. Everything's gonna be fine..." She whispered, soothing and rocking me like a child. "M-Mom... S-She's the o-only one l-left with m-me" I whispered through my broken and agonizing voice. "She won't leave you. They won't leave us" Catalina said trying to calm me, whispering the last sentence, convincing herself as well. Tears flooded my face, my voice being hoarse, and my body severely shaking. After an hour of fear winning to take over me, I calmed down a bit, but still silently crying. We are sitting down on a root of a huge tree, my back leaning against the tree's body. "W-When will we go back?" I asked Catalina with my voice now so hoarse. "Until the sun haven't set, we won't step any nearer towards the kingdom" She replied without looking at me but at the ground. I know she's just comforting me, but deep inside her, she knew there's a possibility that they won't survive. Its like a war has risen, and our coven was unprepared, having the disadvantage. As a few moments passed, I slowly drifted into darkness which we call sleep. *** I opened my eyes finding Catalina carefully shaking me to wake up. I looked around to a dark and quiet forest. The sun was down. "We can go back now, Aya" Catalina said with a low voice. I just nodded my head and stood up and climbed at Catalina's back while she bent her knees lower. I carefully leaned towards her back and locked my hands together around her neck, not too tight as she held my laps' back to support me from falling. "Hold tight, Aya. We're going on a run" She playfully announced, making me chuckle a little. "We've been running for hald an hour now, letting me know that we went to a far place to ensure our safety. I was just enjoying the feeling of the wind welcoming my body, letting my hair play so crazy, the cold wind hitting my face. After a few more minutes, "Close your eyes, Aya!" Catalina yelled, letting me hear what she said despite of the sound of the wind because of her speed. I did what I was told. After closing my eyes, she started slowing down until she stopped. A silent and cold place was felt by my senses. I don't feel good about this. My eyebrows knitted together as I heard sobs from Catalina's lips. I slowly opened my eyes, scared of what I'll see. Tears started racing down my cheeks at what I saw. A quiet and messy palace bombarded my sight. I jumped down of Ina's back. I ran to the nearest halls, rooms, houses around the castle, the training grounds, everywhere. But nobody showed.  I ran back to Catalina who's now staring at the abyss, body trembling. "W-Why is there no o-one around, Catalina?" I asked with my shaky voice, not wanting to believe the idea that came into my mind. She turned her attention to me. Her eyes are glassy as tears came out of her eyes endlessly, so do mine. "Y-You know what it m-means, Hiraya" She said with a sad smile, full of anger, sadness, regret, and vengeance burst in her eyes. With her eyes turning to red, and her fangs showing, her eyes burning with anger, she let out a very powerful shout that sent me goosebumps. A glimpse of fear was left in my heart at the sight of angry Catalina. "THEY'LL PAY!!!" Letting all her feelings out. Nobody's around. No fighter, none of the Elders, not even our King. My heart started to burn. Flames of anger in it. My fists balled tightly, my body shaking because of anger, and my eyes sharpened. They will pay...one way or another.
