Chapter Five
Elise drove over to the park where the tulip festival would be held in less than one week. She wanted to get a feel for the area and make a few small adjustments to capture the atmosphere in her window display. Jessica, from the women’s department, had already given her a few tips on how to integrate fresh flowers into the displays of spring clothing in the window. A line of brightly-colored wool scarves had added a pop of color when Jessica had shown Elise how to drape the scarves in several different fashions on the mannequins. Those same mannequins held baskets and painted tins full of silk tulips in every shade. Maybe the window was just fine and it was Elise’s life that felt incomplete. With a sigh, she got out of her car and walked along the sidewalk.
