Donovan walked into my office, apologizing for showing up without calling as he closed the door behind him. “I’m also sorry I’m interrupting your work, but I had to see you and I wasn’t sure you’d let me in if I showed up at your condo.” He sat in a chair across from my desk. “It’s fine. I’m done with my patients for the day. What’s up?” “I just got the results from the paternity test and I wanted you to be the first one to see them.” He pulled a piece of paper from his jacket. He handed it to me, but before I’d had a chance to read the results, he told me, “I’m not Ryan’s father.” I read the test results and he was right. Ryan wasn’t his son. “I knew he wasn’t mine.
