Third Person's POV
The sound of the coming bus almost make her eyes shine, she waited for the bus for almost an hour and she was relieved that it is finally here, she really wants to settle her tired body on her bed and cuddle with her pillows, especially her bear stuffie named Bren.
Once the bus came to an stop, she halted and almost immediately climbed, she chose the seat on the back, not wanting attentions from the other passengers, even though she felt the tiredness of her sore body, she can't escape the fact that getting on a bus is really a nightmare for her. She doesn't want attention, always wanting to stay in the dark just not to attract any possible eyes on her, she hated the fact that she will seat on a bus with many strangers for an hour until she gets home.
Home. She calls her little apartment home, she lived there for four years now, she graduated from high school and can't afford to pay for college, and that's where being a waitress came, she need to earn money or she'll die, it's a good thing that she saved enough money to purchase her little apartment from her allowance when she was still in high school.
She had to live alone, and she liked that, she doesn't want to hear those banging on her parents' bedroom, those yellings and those curses that make her head pound, she wants freedom, and purchasing her own safe haven will be the perfect solution.
Sky let out an audible sigh when she realized that she's near, her blue eyes scanning the jacket on her lap, it's her only property that she treasured so much, it's from her grandma. Sky is actually not a pure Canadian, she's an Asian too, her grandma was from the Philippines, they are so close when Sky was still in high school, after she fled from her parents' house.
Sighing, she just close her eyes, feeling the bus came to an stop, Sky immediately forced herself off the torture one hour ride in the bus.
From her side, she can see that she's the only one left standing on that bus stop, biting her lip, Sky decided to take the risk of the night to walk on the right side where her home is located.
It's already past eight in the evening and the weather is bad, the wind harshly biting her skin, she shivered from the lack of protection fron the winds, walking down the slightly dim street, she sighed.
It was a painful walk, feeling a little afraid of the dark, she chose to walk briskly even her feel feels sore from all the work she did on the diner.
After a five minute torture, Sky sighed a relief when she reached her tiny apartment, she opened the door immediately with her slightly shaking hands, wanting to feel the warmth of her safe haven.
Morning came, Sky forced herself to go on her tiny bathroom, taking a much needed shower, picking her white fluffy towel and putting on a black hoodie and her white jogging pants, her abused white sneakers seemed too big to her feet but she had no choice, it's the only shoes she had except her cute white fluffy slippers that she only uses inside her tiny apartment.
She slept atleast six hours but her body seemed too tired to go on her work.
But she need to or else she'll starved and die, tip-toeing, Sky locked her apartment and headed to the bus stop, squeezing the tip of her hoodie.
It was already 7 in the morning and her shift starts at 8, she still needs to put on their uniform and arrange her locker that she left un-arranged and messy yesterday.
It was a smooth ride from her apartment to the diner, after putting on her uniform and tidying her messy locker, she headed to the kitchen where Louise is standing, looking at her with those scary eyes that made her trembling, but she forced not to show any fear from their manager who always terrorize her privacy and emotions.
"You're six minutes late Sky. Stop being a lazy ass who only knows to stutter. Do your work, and I don't want to see your face, I'm not in the mood to entertain your clumsy acts." Louise's rolled her eyes at her when she saw her trembling hands. "Ah, ah, ah. You better treat that clumsy hands of yours before you waste foods and irritate me, especially our costumers."
"I-I..." Sky's voice trailed, she tried to voice out but immediately stopped when her voice came as a whisper.
"Tsk. Those stupid stutter again!" Louise pushed Sky's body to the side before storming out the kitchen.
"Sky!"
Her only friend from the diner approached her when Louise was out of their sight.
"M-macy."
"Hey, are you okay? I can feel you're distressed. You can go in the locker first, calm yourself, I can cover you to Ms. Louise, c'mon, go now." Macy whispered, the chefs looked at them weirdly.
"B-but...I'm o-okay M-macy." She whispered, afraid to show her voice to those chefs in the kitchen.
She's afraid to voice out what she wants to say 'cause she often have those weird looks and disgusting stare from other waitress in the diner, but Macy is different, they are friends and Sky is grateful for her, Macy always makes her comfortable from those people in the diner who makes her fidget and uncomfortable.
"Sshh, go now." Macy insisted.
Sky bit her lip, a mannerism she do when she's afraid from something or someone.
"M-macy, no. I a-am o-okay. I d-dont want t-to be a b-burden to y-you, Ms. L-louise will p-punish y-you if s-he'll discover y-you're c-covering m-me." Her lips are trembling and her eyes hurt, she's trying to stop her tears from falling.
Macy held her still trembling hands, squeezing them. "It's alright. We still don't have any costumers, I can handle myself, don't bother about me." She whispered softly.
Sky nodded with a sigh. "Thank you, M-macy."
