885 Words
Marie's Point of View ••• The moment the strange woman stepped into the hospital room, an unbearable pressure tightened inside Marie's chest. Her breathing became uneven, fragments, broken flashes. Airport lights, people screaming,a child crying, handcuffs. Her head throbbed violently. Marie pressed trembling fingers against her temple while staring at the elegant beautiful woman dressed in crimson. The woman's heels clicked slowly against the hospital floor as she walked further into the room with unsettling confidence. "Well..." she repeated softly, folding her arms. "The little maid finally woke up." Mia immediately ran toward Marie and hid behind her weakly. Fear covered the little girl's face. Marie instinctively wrapped protective arms around her. "Who are you?" she whispered faintly. The woman smiled thinly before she could answer, "Kate," Sir Kelvin's cold voice sliced through the room sharply. The atmosphere shifted instantly. Marie looked toward him.His expression had darkened dangerously. Not shock,no confusion, but anger.Pure anger. Kate's smile faltered slightly before returning. "Long time no see, Alberto." "Get out." The words came instantly.Sharp,deadly,calm. Kate laughed softly. "That's no way to welcome someone who came to visit an injured patient." "You lost the right to step near my family the day you abandoned my daughter at that airport." Silence exploded inside the room. Marie blinked slowly. Airport? Something twisted painfully inside her mind again. Kate's expression hardened slightly. "I made one mistake." "One?" Kelvin scoffed coldly. "Mia could've died." Mia tightened her grip around Marie instantly at the mention of the incident. Marie looked down at her confused. Why did hearing all this feel strangely familiar? Then suddenly,a sharp image flashed through her head.Tiny hands,a crying child near a rail walkway.Fear, running footsteps. Marie gasped softly. Her head pounded harder. "Marie?" Nanny Ann rushed toward her worriedly, but Marie barely heard her. Her eyes remained fixed on Kate. Then slowly, another image flashed. Police officers,Sir Kelvin shouting, beiing dragged away. Her chest tightened painfully. "You..." Marie whispered faintly while staring at Kate. Kate noticed immediately. A dangerous flicker crossed her eyes. "Oh?" she said softly. "Looks like little memories are returning." Kelvin's jaw tightened. "Leave. Now." But Kate ignored him completely. Instead, she walked closer toward Marie's bed. "You should be careful," she said quietly. "This family destroys everyone who gets close to them." "Enough!" Kelvin barked sharply. Mia flinched fearfully. Marie instinctively pulled the little girl closer protectively again. Kate smiled knowingly at the sight, then she looked directly at Marie. "Tell me," she asked softly, "did he finally replace his dead wife with you?" The room froze. Kelvin's expression darkened instantly. "Kate," he warned dangerously,Marie's confusion deepened. Dead wife? Replace? Nothing made sense. "I don't understand..." she whispered weakly. Kate laughed softly again. "Of course you don't." "Security," Kelvin snapped immediately. Two guards appeared near the doorway within seconds. "Escort her out." Kate rolled her eyes dramatically. "You're still as controlling as ever." But before leaving, she leaned slightly closer toward Marie. And whispered softly enough for only her to hear. "You should ask yourself why a man who hates attachment keeps visiting your hospital room every day." Marie froze. Her heart skipped strangely. Then Kate straightened elegantly and walked toward the door, but right before exiting, she glanced back one final time and smiled. "A storm is coming, Alberto." Then she disappeared. Leaving behind nothing but tension and silence. --- Sir Kelvin's Point of View ••• The moment Kate left the room, Kelvin felt rage boiling beneath his skin. What was she doing here? How dare she show her face after everything? He loosened his tie harshly while pacing near the hospital window. His nerves felt dangerously stretched. Behind him, Marie remained unusually quiet, too quiet. That worried him more. "Daddy..." Mia tugged weakly at his sleeve. Kelvin immediately softened slightly and crouched before her. "It's okay, princess." Mia quickly scribbled something on her notepad. "That woman scared Mum." Kelvin's chest tightened faintly. His eyes instinctively moved toward Marie. She looked pale again, lost in thought. Her fingers clutched the hospital blanket tightly and somehow, the sight unsettled him deeply. Dr. Rafael entered shortly afterward to check Marie's vitals again. "She needs rest," he instructed carefully. "Too much emotional stimulation could trigger stronger memory reactions." Kelvin nodded distractedly. Then suddenly,Marie looked directly at him. Her eyes searched his face carefully. "Did you..." she hesitated softly, "visit me every day?" Kelvin stiffened instantly. Kate's words.Damn her. "No," he answered quickly. Nanny Ann raised an eyebrow immediately.David almost scoffed from the corner.Even Dr. Rafael looked unconvinced. Marie studied him quietly. Then softly, "You're lying again." Kelvin frowned sharply. Why did she keep saying things like that so naturally?Like she knew him deeply, like she could read beyond his walls. It irritated him dangerously. "I don't owe you explanations," he muttered coldly. Marie lowered her gaze slightly. Something about her silence afterward felt heavier than accusations. Mia suddenly climbed beside Marie again and cuddled against her arm happily. "See?" David muttered quietly near the window. "She already sees her as family." Kelvin's expression darkened immediately and once again, jealousy crept viciously into his chest. Not because Mia loved Marie, but because Marie occupied spaces in his children's hearts he no longer knew how to reach himself. The realization suffocated him, before he could respond, his phone suddenly rang loudly. Kelvin answered irritably. "What?" But the moment the caller spoke, his expression changed completely.Shock, disbelief, then fury. "What do you mean the media found out?!"
