Lyra's POV
I walked through the cave like a shadow, unnoticed and unbothered. The place had been my prison for what felt like forever, but no one paid much attention to me anymore. The guards barely acknowledged me. They threw food my way, a silent gesture that I was still someone’s responsibility, but beyond that, I was invisible.
Invisible, but not free. The walls of the cave seemed to press in on me, no matter which way I turned. I’d been wandering these tunnels for hours, maybe even days, and still hadn’t found a single way out. It was as though the cave was playing tricks on me, leading me in circles.
Every narrow path felt familiar, and every shadow seemed like it was one I had passed before. My steps echoed in the empty corridors, a constant reminder that I was alone, trapped.
