Chapter 46: Complicated Affection

1234 Words

Ranio’s POV I stood there, staring at Lyra. She had that familiar fire in her eyes, the same determination that had once captivated me. But now, I didn’t know if I could trust it—or her. She wanted to come with us to battle, to fight alongside us. Part of me wanted to tell her no, to leave her behind. But the other part, the rational part, knew that leaving her here didn’t serve anyone. Lyra was one of our best healers, and she had proven herself in battle more than once. But still… After everything that happened, could I truly let her come? “I’ll think about it and get back to you,” I said, trying to keep my voice steady. “For now, I have things to attend to.” Without waiting for her response, I turned and walked away. My mind was a storm, torn between what was right and what I felt.
