CHAPTER 5 You'll Be Meeting My Family Tomorrow

1111 Words
Amelia's POV As the first light of dawn sneaked through the window, I could feel its gentle warmth on my face. I stretched my limbs, as I yawned so loudly, shaking off the slumber in my eyelids. “It's 7:00 am”, I yawned as I checked my time by my bedside. It's going to be a whole new experience, new environment and new people from today. I just hope I'm able to cope with his family or friends. I just have to quit thinking about everything and just be optimistic. I was done with my morning routines, and got some important stuff I'd be needing. I finished before time. I just needed to make sure my hair was well arranged, and just then I heard a blast from a car horn outside. I caught a glimpse outside through the window blind, and saw the young man that was Alexander's Assistant standing beside the car. “He's here," I looked at my room one last time and closed the door as I sighed heavily. “Good morning Ma'am, " Mason greeted. “Good morning, you can just call me Amelia." I replied, not liking the idea of calling me Ma'am. “It won't be right if I called you by your name Ma'am. He said, and I understood his plight. “We should take our leave now”, he ushered me into the car, but I looked back at my house with a sad expression before I entered, and I sighed. I'll miss my home, my normal life, my best friend, Emily, my coffee shop, and my colleagues too. I'll be leaving with a strange billionaire that is cold and distant who'll divorce me after 12 months. It's more like I sold my freedom to a billionaire. We'd been on the road for almost an hour, and I felt more tired and nervous about the journey. Just when I thought the ride was endless, the car came to a halt. As I raised my head to behold the magnificent building before me, my jaw dropped. I felt my breath cease as I stepped through the grand gates of the building, a sense of astonishment hit me just like a wave. Before me lay the estate of Alexander Walton, a palace of extraordinary luxury. The driveway into the mansion was covered with dazzling black marble stone, and made its way to the expertly designed and manicured garden. Everything in the mansion was just in sequence. “Welcome home Ma'am,” the troupe of maids greeted in unison as they bowed their heads slightly, they were putting on neat uniforms and they all had beautiful smiles. “Hi, my name is Amelia,” I said, and smiled back at them. “Let me take you in and show you your room,” one of the maids said with a friendly smile, and I felt at ease since there were nice people around that I could talk to. “Oh my goodness! Is this supposed to be a house or a 5-star hotel?” I mumbled to myself. The mansion itself was an iconic work of architecture and luxury paintings. The facades were surrounded with a symphony of glass, steel, and marble that seemed to gleam in the rays of sunlight by the sizable wooden doors, adorned with intricate carvings, the designs were just splendid. “This is so incredible!" I almost shouted out loud. "This is your room, Ma'am”, the maid called my attention, because I was already lost in the enchantment of the house. “My room? Will I be sleeping here alone on this big sized mattress?" I asked the maid, and she almost laughed at my being dramatic. “Of course, ma'am, you also have everything you need in your room,” The maid said with a smile. "My name is Nichole, I'm your personal maid. If you ever need anything, please don't hesitate to call me. I'll take my leave now, the meal will be served as soon as you're done freshening up.” She said and left. “I closed the door, and started gushing at how beautiful my room was, with adorable paintings and intricate carvings on the wall. Everything was just screaming luxury. My wardrobe was stocked with beautiful clothings, shoes, bags, and literally everything I needed, but they looked so expensive. I decided to freshen up, and I didn't feel like leaving the bathroom, everything in it was a piece of paradise. I wore a simple but beautiful dress, and decided to go eat something, since I was famished. I was confused on which way to go, the house had so many walkways. There was no one, and I wondered where all the maids were, so I decided to check out the room opposite mine to see if anyone was inside. The room was dark, and I couldn't see anything inside. I tried looking for the switch to turn on the light, and just then I bumped into a very strong manly figure. I was so frightened, because I couldn't see the face clearly. The lights finally came on, although it was quite dim, but enough to see that it was Alexander Walton standing before me. “What are you doing in my room?" he asked, with his voice cold and his gaze on me. “I'm really sorry, I didn't know it was your room. I was trying to find my way to the dining room, and was trying to ask for help since I didn't see the maids around. I explained, hoping he'd understand my plight. “You should be careful next time, I won't tolerate it when anyone enters my room," he said with a stern expression, and I just nodded and left the room. “It's too early for a bad experience" I mumbled to myself, as I slightly hit my hand on my forehead. I saw a maid, and she led me to the dining room. Different meals were served, and I felt like devouring everything on the table at once. I began to eat, but his voice startled me. “Take your time, the food won't run away," I heard Alexander say, as he sat down to eat, and I felt so awkward. His face was without expression, and his aura filled the dining room. I began to eat slowly, and tried to avoid gazing at him. “You'll be meeting my family tomorrow. I wouldn't want any embarrassment." he said, facing his food, and my eyes widened. How can I face his family, when the moments we spend together seem to be so awkward…?
