CHAPTER 3 You Almost Sounded Like You Were In Love With Her

Aexander's POV

“I will be doing another presentation today. It's going to be quite a busy day. Prepare the documents for the presentation.” I said to Mason on the phone, as I walked out of the room to have breakfast.

“Good morning Master!” the maids echoed, and I hummed in reply.

Breakfast was already served, and in a few minutes I concluded my eating. Mason was already waiting for me outside.

“Good morning, President,” Mason greeted me, and I hummed in reply, as he ushered me into the car. We hit the road at exactly 7:30am, we were just in time.

"The documents for the presentation are ready, " he said, as he handed the documents to me, and everything was perfect.

“President, don't you think we should keep an eye on the lady?,” Mason said.

“There won't be any need for that, her type of person won't go back on her words, “ I replied without much thinking. "Do you know her type of person? " I asked my assistant.

“No Sir, " Mason replied immediately.

“She's just so meek and gentle, and obviously she's from a poor background, she also has her family to take care of too, how can she go back on her words?” I asked Mason to confirm what I just said.

“You almost sounded like you were in love with her," Mason said, and I was surprised to hear that.

“Did I ? Come off, she's just a contracted bride that I'll divorce after a year. I just need to get this promotion from Old Master, that's all, I said, and wondered how I sounded like I was in love.

“I still need you to do a thorough background check on her, especially where she lived when she was still a kid.” I instructed Mason. She looks exactly like her. Where has she been all this while? Or maybe she's not the one. She could be a look alike. I reflected on the past as her face just kept appearing in my head.

"Don't forget to instruct the maid to prepare her room, and get all her essentials.” I said, and Mason took note of everything.

Mason has been my personal assistant for 7 years now, he has always shown dedication and never betrayed my trust, and holds a proven track record of reliability.

“I've taken note of everything, sir, " he said.

Amelia's POV

The sun's rays poured into my room, and I could hear the birds chirp cheerfully. I yawned, as I stretched my body. Today is shaping up to be a great day, I affirmed, as I stood up from bed to do my daily rituals.

My thoughts shifted to the way things had been unfolding, and I couldn't help but sigh out loud. I'm astonished with the fact that I'll be taking up residence with a billionaire from tomorrow. He's just so cold and distant. I hope I'll be able to cope. I was pondering, and just then my phone blared, it was Emily calling.

“Lia!!, " Emily screamed, and I almost removed the phone from my ear.

“Emily!Oh my goodness, I've missed you so much. I said with so much excitement in my voice.

“How have you been Lia, I'm so sorry I've not been able to reach out to you for a while now, how is Mum? Emily asked, I could tell she was feeling sad. It hasn't been easy for her either.

"She's better now, the surgery has been done” I said, and I got ready for more questions.

"Really? Were you able to get the money for the surgery, I intended on giving you my salary for this month. She said, and I almost teared up.

“How do I explain everything to you Emily, a lot has happened in the last few days, I said, and I know I might end up spilling the beans to her.

"What do you mean Lia?, " she asked, Emily won't give up until she knows everything.

“I'm married, Emily." I said, and that sounded so absurd to me.

“Jeez, what kind of joke is that Lia? She said, I knew she won't take me seriously now.

"I'm serious Mily, I'm now a contracted bride to Alexander Walton, the one you know.

“The billionaire Alexander Walton, or is there any other one apart from the billionaire? she asked, and she's being dramatic now.

“The billionaire actually, " I answered.

"For real, oh my goodness! I can't believe this, I'm so happy for you Lia, she shouted, and I wondered what was there to be happy about.

“Well, it's nothing to be so excited about, it's just for 12 months, " I shrugged.

"What do you mean, you'll be living in paradise for 12 months, and you're saying it's nothing to be happy about. Emily said.

“Well, at least I was able to save my mum's life, all thanks to him. I said, and I felt good about that.

“Yeah, does Alexa and Mum know about this? Emily asked, and my eyes widened.

“No! they don't, and please don't mention this to them yet. I said, and I know she'll keep up.

“Of course not Lia, I won't. I just want you to be happy wherever you are, she said, and I felt happy that I could always confide in Emily.

“Thank you Emily, you're the best. I said, and I couldn't hold my tears.

“Don't tell me you're crying right now Lia, I should be the one crying because you'll be leaving me behind. Emily said.

“No, you shouldn't feel bad, we can always hang out together anytime we're free. I'm not leaving you behind Mily.” I added.

"That's fine Lia, all the best. I need to prepare for work now. Emily said.

"Thank you Mily, bye," I said, and hung up the call.

I'll be facing a whole new world tomorrow, I hope I'll be able to cope with everything. I sighed heavily.

Just immediately after the call, my phone blared and a message notification popped up, and I opened it to read the content.

“Good day Miss, we'll pick you up at exactly 8:00am tomorrow, you shouldn't bother taking any of your belongings, everything you need is already provided for you.
