Stale smoke hung in the air, tinged by the scents of fresh booze, old beer and sweat. Dim lighting. Colored spots strategically located, many burnt out, to add a touch of glitz to the chintzy atmosphere of the place. A long bar ran down one side, where men huddled with their drinks. Barely clad women mingled with them, teasing and cajoling them into buying them drinks or slipping bills into their garters.
