Halverson stood on his cot looking down at the compound. It was the morning after the riots. He had no idea what happened but had heard the shooting and hoped more than a little he would see white-armored UEF troopers storm into the complex. But no troopers came, and in the morning it was quiet. He sat down on the bunk, his stomach growling hunger while he rubbed it absently. There had been no food since the morning before.
