Standing outside of the farmhouse with my father, I prepare for the most difficult conversation of my life. How do you tell a dying mother that her daughter has been taken by rogues and it is all your fault? I knock lightly on the door and wait for someone to answer it.
Kat's dad pulls the door open, and his face is laced with anger. "What the f**k did you bring to my house?" He screams at me angrily, causing my father to growl lowly behind me.
"I don't know why they came here," I tell Kat's father. "But they have taken Kat."
The sound of metal dragging against hard floors grabs my attention, and I look around Kat's father to see her mother emerging from the bedroom down the hall. She is dragging her oxygen tank behind her and gives me a weak smile.
