revelations

When I'd stripped her dress from her and she'd stood there in heels and lace undies, I thought I would blow my load right then; God she did things to me; I shivered at the memory of her gorgeous, creamy body bathed in moonlight, the lust in her eyes.... I interrupted that train of thought to look at her sleeping form; this was the third day of her heat and she was exhausted; so was I. I wasn't her mate so I could help her but not bring her the relief she so desperately needed. We'd divided the time between f*****g and fighting as I trained her to defend herself. She'd surprised me, being agile, swift and a fast learner, she had a natural gift and I think she could be deadly, striking with a cool precision rather than hot temper though I knew she'd be reluctant to kill, which would be her weakness; at least she wouldn't be completely defenceless when she left for uni. I gazed at her face, so innocent, her soft, plump lips, swollen with kissing, parted with her gentle snores, her dark, glossy hair fanned out over the pillows. There had been pain too, sobs of agony along with her arousal. I hadn't told her but I knew that she'd met her mate; what she was feeling was his betrayal; he was f*****g another woman, unaware that the arousal he was feeling belonged to his mate, that he was feeling her through the bond. Maybe he did know she was out there but, like her, couldn't place the smell of his intended so settled for relief elsewhere. The guilt and conflict I felt was intense; I'd caused this. I had good intentions when I masked her but, as they say, the road to hell was paved with those. I wondered again about her mate; the moon goddess was said to pair wolves with the other part of their soul who would complete them; she was young, beautiful, bright and sweet; perhaps she'd be paired with her opposite, someone who would be aggressive enough to protect her and be the realist to her idealism, the animal to her culture. Her heat should be subsiding soon so she could go home; she'd told her parents she was staying with a friend for a few days and they'd been suspicious but, as an adult, they couldn't say too much I guess. I sighed; I really didn't want to let her go, I wanted to keep her safe with me until she found her mate though the thought of someone else enjoying her delicious body set off a spasm of jealousy. She wasn't mine and never could be. How would she manage her heat at uni? She'd have to keep herself safe and hidden for a few days; I'd have to give her some masking oil for other times, it would be wise for her to be careful. She stirred in her sleep, her little hand reaching out for her mate subconsciously. I laughed at myself; I'd like to think I had stamina in the bedroom but this little she-wolf had left me a husk, greedy little thing that she was. I felt her behind wiggle against me and felt myself starting to swell, the smooth skin of her buttocks rubbing against my swiftly growing c**k delightfully. I thrust gently forward a few times hopefully, eliciting a gentle growl. Taking that as acceptance, I entered her from behind, spooning her and kissing her neck as we gently rocked, her lovely little noises spurring me on. Beauty was a beast in bed. The following day she left for home, armed with her phone, a pot of masking oil and a couple of my books to read so that she could learn more about her kind and prepare herself for life away from her family. I busied myself with tracking the city rogue; he appeared to have dropped activity during her heat, confirming what I suspected; firstly that the rogue was Della's mate and secondly, that he'd been busy elsewhere. I brooded over my mug of PG Tips. If I was right and he was actually her mate, his urge to bury himself in other women would have passed now and he may resume his previous pattern of activity. At this point, I didn't know whether or not he was truly rogue or whether he was simply closer to his wolf preferring to hunt than eat human food; it had happened before without them being a problem; perhaps he could be reasoned with. I was hopeful of just observing him for now but not naeive enough to go unarmed. I finished my tea and bacon sandwich and started loading my bag. As a last minute thought, I went and ripped the pillow case she'd been sleeping on off the bed and stuffed it in the bag. Tonight I would be going hunting. I waited until nightfall to drive over to the outskirts of the city. The sightings had all been very late at night or early hours of the morning; so he wasn't stupid, he was prowling during sleeping hours. I drew up into the car park of swampbottom park to the west of the city and killed the engine. This was one of the most wooded areas and at the center of all the wolf activity. I grabbed my bag and headed out across the park, cloaked in darkness and beginning to develop the settling ground mist, giving it an eerie but tranquil feel. I still had an hour or so until I expected him to show. I was cloaked in masking oil and dressed for concealment in dark grey; never black. Books always got it wrong, shadows weren't black and wearing black made you stand out but dark greys and greens were perfect for lurking; and I was a professional lurker. I pulled the pillow case out of my bag, leaving it by a tree. She'd slept on it through her heat, he should track this down easily; it would drive him mad. I then backed off a few meters, climbing a sufficiently thick, bushy tree, settling myself into the fork in the trunk and covering myself with camouflage net to sit and wait. My backside was going numb and I was moist with dew before I finally heard the sound of heavy panting and large footfalls. I silently watched through my night vision lens as a large, dark wolf stalked warily through the trees with a little Muntjac in its jaws; I'd been right; this creature wasn't rabid, just hunting. As I watched, the wolf dumped the Muntjac and started to sniff the air, grimacing and licking to better place the scent. He whined gently and put his nose to the ground, closing his startling yellow eyes, tracking it furiously. A few moments later I heard a pained yelp as he found the pillowcase, followed by the cracking of bones as he assumed his human form. He was facing away from me. Surprisingly, he wasn't as enormous as his wolf form would suggest; being average height; he was still well muscled but not in a built way, there was more of a slender, wiry strength than bulk; he was almost delicately built for a male. I c****d my head; this wasn't what I'd expected at all! I'd been picturing her mate as some jacked up alpha type, someone with brute strength to protect her willowy form but the more I thought about it, the more it fit; she needed gentleness, not brawn. As I watched, he lifted the pillowcase to his nose, inhaled deeply and groaned like an animal in pain, clutching it like his life depended on it. I was getting frustrated not being able to see his face; I tried to lean forward to get a better look but the branch snapped under me and I fell, landing on the floor with a thud, knocking the wind out of me. I heard the sound of large footfalls and a low growl; f**k! I was done for. I shuffled myself up, still panting from my fall, to look into his glowing yellow eyes. He was about as tall as me at the shoulder, a shaggy grey coat covering his sinewy body. His lips were drawn up over his teeth in a snarl as he narrowed his eyes at me. I raised my hands tentatively. "I'm not a danger," I said quietly. The wolf c****d it's head. "We meet again.....hunter.." he spoke; my eyebrows shot up, it was a rare gift for a were to be able to speak in wolf form; the sound was off somehow, like two voices were speaking in unison. "Again?" I asked confused. "Yes, again; you were too arrogant to truly notice me. Why do you have item smelling of mate, hunter? Where is she?" The beast snarled. "Mate is safe," I said, understanding his agitation, "she didn't know she was a wolf, I helped her shift." I kept my information brief, thinking it best to leave out the fact that I'd also made love to her. He c****d his head and sat back on his haunches. "Mate is young?" I nodded "Very," I replied, "and beautiful," I added. He growled at that; ok, clearly the possessive type. "Where is she?" He asked. "Mate should be with us." "She's going away," I said, "she's going to university, I think it's best she doesn't know for now." He snarled at that. "Let her chase her dreams," I suggested, "she's firey and ambitious, let her do this so that she doesn't resent you" He didn't stop snarling; "why would mate resent us, she should want to be with us and have pups, that's normal, I just want what's normal." I rolled my eyes and he growled louder. "Just listen to yourself!" I cried, "she's eighteen, she has a life to lead, you can't just force her to stay as your b***h to fill her with pups and take all that away from her!" He c****d his head "besides, you weren't thinking of mate when you were balls deep in someone else during her first heat, she was in agony! She was screaming!" That elicited a whine and a downcast look. "Mate was hurt? We didn't know....we didn't know we had met mate!" I could swear the wolf looked like he would cry. I sighed and took pity on him. "she doesn't know either, I didn't tell her." He huffed in relief "Look, I made a mistake, I'd masked her scent to protect her, so she wouldn't get hurt; I had a hunch she might have come across you but nothing concrete until her heat hit," I explained, "then I came looking. I still think it's best she doesn't know for now; she's a local girl; well, from the coast anyway; she'll be back soon enough and fate will decide the rest." He growled but looked resigned and huffed at me. "Want mate," he whined, "I just want what's normal." " What about what she wants?" I asked gently. He whimpered and hung his head; I don't think I'd ever seen anything so pathetic. "She's got green eyes and golden fur," I said quietly, his ears pricked up with interest "she's a little bit smaller than you but not much; I think she's a special wolf, an old spirit," I continued. He allowed his tongue to loll out of his mouth in a proud Wolfy grin and I chuckled. "I will watch over her for a while and try to teach her as much as I can in these few weeks before she leaves" I said. At that, he hung his head dejectedly and whined again. "She's worth waiting for," I said quietly. "You like mate?" He asked with a possessive growl. I nodded and he narrowed his yellow eyes "but she's not mine and never will be," I said with a shrug. He picked up the pillowcase in his jaws and turned his back, making clear that we were done. I suppose I was lucky he didn't just kill me; there was something savage about his wolf, something edgy and closer to the animal than the man. I didn't trust him; what if he hurt my soft, sweet little Della? Except she wasn't mine and he was her mate, her one and only and I felt like a royal s**t not telling her; but it was best for now. "Wait, hunter," he stopped and turned his huge head to me. I could see he was hesitant to continue so I smiled encouragingly. "Can we know mate's name?" He asked hopefully. I nodded, not seeing the harm in revealing her name. "Delphine, her name is Delphine; and her wolf is Lucifera," I vouchsafed, trusting her mate to keep it safe. He repeated both names, as if tasting them. "Beautiful" he nodded. He slunk off dragging his kill and I retrieved my stuff from the tree before heading back to the truck. A good night's work I think.
