THIRD PERSON POV Thorne’s mansion rose above the hill like a mausoleum of stone and shadows. Inside the great hall, Thorne moved through the room in the dark, refusing to turn on a single light, letting the violet glow of the lightning intermittently illuminate the oak furniture and the classic moldings on the walls. Outside, it was the greatest storm the region had seen in years. The wind howled against the windows, shaking the frames with a force that seemed to want to tear the house from its foundations, and Thorne had welcomed it with open arms.
