My right hand slid down her back until it anchored at her waist, digging my fingers into her flesh with a force that sought to mark her through the dress.
I pulled her toward me with a sharp tug, eliminating any trace of air between our bodies; I wanted her to feel the wild beating of my heart against hers.
My nose buried into the curve of her neck, inhaling her essence until my lungs ached.
"Maren..." I whispered against her skin, feeling her body react to my warm breath.
However, just as my lips were about to graze her ear, the strident vibration of my phone broke the spell. I pulled away from her with superhuman effort, cursing over and over in my head. I immediately took the phone from my pocket and saw the university ID.
"I have to answer," I said, more to myself than to her.
