A night at Jean's

*A night at Jean's* The woman led Merry to a very nice, comfortable room. The warmth she felt was amazing; this was indeed luxury. The female butler was about to excuse herself before Merry spoke up. "Thank you so much," Merry began, her voice filled with genuine appreciation. "You're welcome, ma'am. Enjoy," the butler replied, bowing her head slightly. She seemed surprised by Merry's gratitude. "Thanks," Merry muttered again, still taking in the sights and sounds of the room. She loved the décor and the cozy atmosphere. As the butler left, Merry pulled out her phone to give Sandy a call. "Pick up, pick up," she said, waiting for her friend to respond. Finally, Sandy answered. "Hi, honey! I've tried your number. What's up? You're good? Where are you?" Sandy asked, firing off questions like a protective mother hen. "I'm fine," Merry quickly replied, trying to reassure her friend. "Not until a couple of hours ago, though." "What happened?" Sandy asked curiously, her tone softening. Merry explained the events that had transpired, including how Jean had taken her to his place. Sandy's response was immediate. "So you're at Jean's?" Sandy's voice suddenly took on a playful tone. "Come on, his room is upstairs... What are you thinking of?" Merry responded, laughing. "Well, I didn't say anything," Sandy replied, giggling. The two friends chatted about everything, including Sandy reminding Merry to call her mom in the morning. "I think he's upset with me," Merry said out of nowhere, her voice barely above a whisper. "Who?" Sandy asked, her curiosity piqued. "Jean, of course," Merry replied. "What makes you think that, sweetheart?" Sandy asked, her tone gentle. "I don't really know. All he told me was that he doesn't like that I turned him down for the blind date," Merry said, sadness creeping into her voice. "And what did you say after that?" Sandy asked, her interest piqued. "I said I was sorry, but it looks like he's still upset," Merry replied. Sandy's advice was straightforward. "Well, I told you to focus on him. You don't want him to feel like you're leading him on for absolutely nothing or that you're just toying with him, right?" Merry nodded, even though Sandy couldn't see her. "Yeah, I get it. What do you think I should do now?" "Just apologize once more tomorrow, in a more sweet way," Sandy suggested. "I need to go, baby girl. Glad to hear from you again." The call disconnected, and the beep sounded. Merry was grateful for the kind of friend she had in Sandy. Their friendship was built on memories, like the time they were in college. Merry had been bullied a lot because of her petite figure. She was a real beauty, but very short. A good-looking boy, who was also good at sports, had worked up the courage to approach her and ask her if she wanted to see his room. She had responded with a firm "no," which resulted in him harassing her. But God had been on his side that day, because Sandy happened to be passing by and caught sight of Merry being harassed. Sandy walked up to where the scene was occurring and gave the boy a good beating and vice versa. After receiving punishment and scolding at the principal's office, Merry waited outside for Sandy, and they both went to their favorite restaurant afterward. The memory almost brought tears to Merry's eyes. Sandy was truly amazing, and Merry was grateful for their friendship. As she sat in Jean's luxurious room, she felt a sense of comfort and peace wash over her. Maybe, just maybe, this was the start of something special. Should she apologize this night or she should wait till tomorrow like Sandy advised?!.
