Chapter2

The house was silent this morning…more eerie and ghostly as Mrs. Thompson paced about in the living room unsettled. For no apparent reason, they were about to have their breakfast as a family—a tradition she's never letting go any time soon. In her pacing, she abruptly stopped when she remembered that Nataliya had requested that a juice be placed for her on the table instead of coffee. Now that was a change she gladly accepted because God knew that girl was becoming an addict. Before she reached the fridge handles, though, she reached for the tiny apple magnet that had a piece of paper under it. Her heart did a 180 turn at the words she saw on that paper, her legs almost gave out, but she caught herself, landing safely on the chair. Her mate was by her side in a heartbeat, his handsome middle-aged face coated with worry.” What's the matter, my fate?” She didn't trust her voice to form coherent words, so she just handed her husband the paper— “I am truly sorry for mother and father, because I was not good enough for your eldest, and therefore I have left your humble abode. Bless be to thee, worry not about me. Thanks, be to your family for the love that was bestowed upon me, I have failed,” Mr. Thompson finished reading out loud with a tear. On the second floor, just behind the double oak door, the Thompson brothers were having a glaring contest, seeing Dom was not used to his siblings disrespecting him. Yes, they teased him, but that was all there was to it, so right in front of him, glaring daggers at his face was his younger brother Calvin. He had never seen a man like this before… At least not with all this anger projected at him nor the tone of which he'd been using to address him — “She was home the whole damn day!” Ah, and the cursing. They didn't do that, but he let him continue anyway. “Her migraines were bad this morning, so momma stayed with her the whole day. So, I don't know what that banshee said to you, but she lied and, like a fool, you played right into her.” “Watch it, little brother, you're forgetting yourself!” He growled at Calvin, reminding him of his status as the eldest one. “My apologies for I didn't mean to offend, dear brother, but you have to wake yourself.” “She lied to-” “She never did, Dom, Christ…she never did, and do you know how many times Momma asked her to leave you? Do you Dom?” Dominic opened his mouth but nothing came out, he was a jerk. He knew that, and he owned it, but he was not at fault here. He refused to acknowledge the truth, but this time he undoubtedly knew that he messed up. Passing by his brother, he ran up the stairs, turning the corner and another and all but pushed the guest room door open, only to find it empty. He didn't bother asking Maggie. He turned on his heel, heading straight to the living room where breakfast would be served as per tradition, but what he saw when he got there halted him right where he was. His parent's grim faces said it all…she was gone, and he knew that finding her was mission impossible, hell! That girl of his knew exactly how to disappear and, without a trace of that, “Why…?” Came his younger sister's hoarse voice. Catherine was your typical middle child, said less with a damn-up attitude, so when she did all this business for the first time, his elder brother had to flinch at her cold tone towards him. The ride to the commune was long and exhausting her already exhausted form. Benedict and Victoria came to get her. The pair made a good couple, she thought. Vic was a loud vampire and Ben was your down-to-earth vampire. They didn't ask for further details on her latest boyfriend's predicaments, and she was thankful because she was seconds away from tearing up. Her beautiful azure eyes were now swollen from crying her brains out of course and lack of sleep, Ben kept cursing under his breath, murmuring words in line with 'I.hate.downtown.vamps.no.class', whatever that meant, but she didn't care enough for an explanation since it's 'vamps thing' as they usually say. She didn't know how long she was going to hold on for though, as the throbbing in her chest kept tightening and squeezing air right out of her. The G-wagon came to a halt in front of the mansion's huge metal gate, Vic said something to the monitor and the gates opened with a squeak. They drove again, passing the beautiful garden with rich green coloured grass. She hated grass, especially the smell of it, but she appreciated the beauty of it and didn't get her started on the sunflowers, Lillie's and white and pink roses surrounding the lawn. It had been five years since she left, but she knew she could always come back…just not so soon. In front of the mansion stood Berlin and Robert, their stiff muscles showing through their under armor vest. The twins rocked and man, they were hot as hell. Berlin's black hair glistening beautifully at his face, a tall, lean muscle vampire. He knew exactly his handsome features, and he knew how to use them. He was a spitting image of his twin brother except for the eyes. Berlin's were brown and Roberts were gray with sticks of black and Robert had colored his hair titanium white…man, they were hot. Their brother though, was different. Benedict was dark-skinned, taking after their fairest mother. He was not tall nor short, he was on average. All muscled with green eyes that somehow matched that of Vic's, his hair short. He didn't like the hustle that came with long hair, unlike his little brother Berlin. The door opened and Ben helped her out and took her bag with him. Robert had his hands open wide for her and, man, didn't that just break her demeanor as she ran straight into those open arms, welcoming the warmth only his friend was capable of providing… don't even ask. “Nat baby…no, no look at me” Robert held her face in his hands and brushed the tears with his thumb, smiling at her with so much adoration one would think they were mated-” I hate it when you guys are like this” she heard Vic sniffle, the girl was in his mates arms, her beautiful pale face glowing with beauty and sadness for her friend. They have been together for a long time and every day the pair's love grew. Vic was a royal, but you'd think the girl gave a damn when she all fell for a commoner? Well, her family gave them a run for their money, I tell you, but upon seeing Benedict love their young people as much as he does? They had to yield. So, here they were living in a mansion paid for by both families, and Nataliya couldn't be more thankful to these friends of hers. “You know I can go right now and break his fangs out for making you cry, Nat?” And he wasn't kidding. Nataliya knew very well that when it came to her, Robert was all systems go, and why were they not mated, you think? Well, wasn't that a million-dollar question. But they loved their friendship just the way it was, nothing more, nothing less.” Please calm yourself, dear brother, for I will not see you lower yourself to that level…I am just glad to see all of you,” another round of curses and growls from the men. She kept forgetting the fact that she was surrounded by vampires, and they tended to be territorial and possessive. Downtown in the living room, Cathy was shaking from rage, all respect out of the window for her brother. Shame this time, he has really outdone himself—” I asked you a question, dear brother, for what reason did you have to drive her away when!-” Her voice cracked as she was about to say her next words. “When she is with your young…” It came as a whisper, but they had all heard her, damn! His legs suddenly could not support his body frame as he came crumbling down.
