Chapter 2: stubbornness

234 Words
Charlie confronted Emily when they got the chance. However, Emily wouldn't talk. Every time Charlie tried confronting her, she either changed the subject, walked away or both. She just didn't want to talk about it at all. Later that day, Charlie was walking to the castle and overheard Cainterra speaking to the chef. "I-I'm terribly sorry, madam, it won't happen again-" "YOU'RE DAMN RIGHT IT WON'T! THE STUPID POISON DIDN'T WORK, SO FIND SOMETHING THAT DOES! Better yet, I'll have one of the guards kill them. And their kind, stupid wife, Lily. Chef, you're fired. Go get me the guard captain, now!" The chef came back with Martlet. Cainterra explained her plan to kill Charlie and Lily. She nodded and walked away. Charlie finished walking to the castle and to their room. Then, Martlet ran to them. Charlie braced themself for whatever death they were about to have, but Martlet was actually trying to talk to them. "Charlie, I know who was trying to poison you. She wants me to kill you tonight. I won't kill you, but be aware of her. She's trying to get rulership over this kingdom, restore chaos between humankind and zombiekind, and destroy this world." Charlie nodded. "You... overheard her, didn't you?" Charlie smiled and nodded. "Well, I've gotta get home, now. Y'know, incase somebody breaks in and almost breaks the pottery urn holding Michelle's ashes." Martlet went home.
