19 The sun lightened the eastern sky as Anne offered more tea to Enos and checked the wound. She would have to make another poultice, but couldn’t use her tunic for bandages. Smiling to herself, she felt her face flush as she remembered the advantage from last night at having only half a shirt. She glanced at Douglas, who sat at the other end of the downed tree, as he chewed on a piece of bread that made up the majority of their morning meal. His tunic looked clean enough. Feeling her eyes on him, he turned in her direction. “I’ll need fresh bandages to wrap his leg,” she said and eyed his shirt.
