15 The strips from her tunic were dry, having been covered by her cloak. The rain had only soaked her hair and boots. Drawing her damp cloak around her to hide her midriff from Duncan, she thought about what she would need to help Enos with the pain and to help the wound heal. She looked around on the ground, towards the trees behind her, and started walking that way, searching the undergrowth. “What are you looking for?” Duncan asked as he made his way toward Enos with the supplies. “Willow bark, comfrey, garlic,” Anne replied. Duncan remembered his first conversation with her and tried to fill in the missing bits of speech in order to make sense of her reply.
