I sighed as we took out seats at the airport. I wasn't ready for reality to set back in. I had wanted the weekend to last longer. Maybe even forever.
Nathaniel had been quiet as we had packed up to leave. I had called a repairman to come to look at the cameras before we had left. I made sure that Nathaniel was in the car before he turned them back on. It seemed a mouse had chewed through one of the main wires.
I glanced over at Nathaniel and saw that he was furiously texting someone.
"Everything ok?" I asked. He didn't respond. I felt an anxious tug in my stomach. I reached over and tapped him on the shoulder. He turned to face me and blinked a few times.
"Is everything ok Nathaniel? Who are you texting?" I asked again.
