Jade felt a cold chill down her spine. She has not had this feeling before but something was telling her to back off. Like a predator stalking a prey, and the prey’s survival instincts kicks in.
‘No, this isn’t the good-for-nothing son-in-law of the Takyi’s’ she thought as he subconsciously walked backwards.
“What is going on here?”
A roar echoed, and the door was kicked open by several groups of people headed by a young lady.
Jade was stunned after seeing the various groups enter the private room.
Sean Brown, the boss of Divine Dragon Enterprise, one of the biggest investment companies in the region!
Jack Daniels, the boss of Galactic Foods, a leading food company in the region!
Johnny Cage, Black Panther Group, the top real estate in Petronia City!
Jude Paul, Dream Tech, the fastest growing tech start-up in the region. It is less than 5 years and almost hitting a hundred million!
Luna Burton, Royal Burton Corp, an oil and gas company that was on a decline but made a comeback three years ago and dominating the region’s industry!
Portia Jennings, Zentraxx Pharma, a leading pharmaceutical company which produces cosmetics!
These people each lead in a group of their own.
Any one of these was at least worth a hundred million or their families were. They were also influential in their respective cities. So why were they here. Jade thought to herself and she couldn’t wrap her head around it.
A smile appeared on Kelvin’s face when he saw them.
They were old acquaintances who used to be poor or facing financial challenges but had received his investment when they needed it the most. The seemed to have ended up rather successful in the business world.
“You bastard!” Sean nearly died of fright. ‘How dare you, trying to hurt our benefactor’. He rushed over and slapped the burly man on the ground’s face.
Slap!
Sean, although old, used up all his strength in that slap causing the man’s face to swell.
“You’re fired!” He yelled.
“Uncle!” The man yelled and was on the verge of tears. “Uncle, he was here to cause trouble, why would you hit me instead of him?”
“Why shouldn’t I hit you.” Sean bellowed, “ Do you want to make a fool of me in front of my guests?”
The burly man looked around and saw the people behind him.
“ I’ve always said you would be the death of me! Get out of here!”
“Uncle!” The man retorted, “you can’t do this to me. I am here to help give you face. Look at this peasant worker, causing trouble. How dare he sit in room 888”
Slap!
Sean slapped again and roared, “ what about the peasant worker? Did he provoke you? You’re already looking down on people after enjoying just a little bit of luxury? What did I teach you?!”
“ But Uncle, this kid is an outsider, why would you hit me for him?”
Sean trembled in anger before pointing out at Kelvin, saying, “Outsider? Don’t you f*****g know that I wont be where I am today without this person! He’s the young master who I always talk about! You have to work for ten years to get a day’s worth of his pocket money!”
What?!
Jade was overcome with shock as the scene played in front of her.
The entire room was filled with muffled laughs as the guest had difficulty controlling their laughter, especially after seeing the look on the burly man and Jade’s faces.
The burly man was stupefied. He had always heard his uncle talking of THE BENEFACTOR. His Uncle was lucky to have caught his attention and received an investment that had helped them survive the bankruptcy of the family businesses. Never in his wildest dreams had he thought he was a young man, let alone provoking him on their very first meeting.
At this moment Jade felt her legs turn limp as her delicate body unconsciously took a few steps back.
How was that possible, he was just a useless husband.
The loser that was bullied by Selina’s mother. He even did the cooking and was not respected at all by the family. Someone who they had always thought to be leeching off the Takyi’s family.
But… But.. He turned out to be the benefactor of Sean Brown. He has such an extraordinary origin.
“ Benefactor, Benefactor, I.. I… made a miss…. miss… mistake. I was wrong.” The Burly man was close to fainting from the mental pressure that appeared out of the blue. He bowed and apologized profusely.
“Benefactor, blame this woman!” The man pointed at Jade, “ It’s all because of her! It’s because of you that I offended Benefactor! You better join me and plead for forgiveness else I’ll take you down with me.”
Jade trembled as she got on her knees to plead.
Just at this moment Kelvin had had enough, raising his hand, he gestured for them to stop, “ there’s no need for that. You can both take your leave. I won’t be pursuing this.”
They both got up and hurried to the door when they heard Kelvin saying, “ I don’t want these walls to have ears.”
“Yes, yes,” the both answered at the same time. “Don’t worry, not even a fly would hear of this.”
Kelvin nodded in satisfaction as he waved his hands indicating they can leave.
“Young master, I failed to discipline my nephew…”
Sean bowed to Kelvin after everyone took their seat.
“ No need to apologize. Its nothing.” Kelvin replied, “ also I no longer go by that title, just Mr.Johnson would do.”
“ Mr. Johnson is still the kind-hearted young man as before. We were nothing all those years ago.”
Luna took a step the opportunity to talk first. “ if it wasn’t for you, we wouldn’t be where we are today. Knowing that you are here today, we got a gift for you.”
She took out a thick envelope while speaking.
“ It is a token of our appreciation.”
