The police station, which had been calm just moments before, erupted into chaos after Celia’s biting remark.
The assistant director’s face went through a range of colors, from pale white to a furious red, and he was so angry that his teeth were audibly grinding.
Lily, standing off to the side, gave Celia a discreet thumbs-up.
This girl had guts.
"Miss Celia, watch your words, or I’ll arrest you for verbal abuse right here and now!" The police officer, who had been sitting, now stood up.
Celia shot him a glance, too tired to argue further.
Who knew how much this cop had been bribed to blatantly side with this bandaged scumbag?
The assistant director, clearly losing face, spoke with a voice hoarse from suppressed fury. "Celia, how dare you speak to me like that! You’ve just thrown away your chance at being the lead in this show!"
"Who cares about your lousy show?" Lily’s temper finally exploded. She yanked Celia behind her, standing tall and proud like a battle-ready rooster. "We don’t need your trashy production!"
But as soon as the words left her mouth, Celia tugged at Lily’s hand, her face twisted in distress. "I actually care!"
That script from Director Hughes was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for her, ruined now by this rotten apple.
The assistant director sneered, his expression dripping with disdain. He crossed his arms arrogantly and said, "What else can you two little nobodies do besides talk big? I touched you because I was doing you a favor. Stop pretending you’re so pure and virtuous!"
Lily immediately grabbed a nearby thermos and hurled its contents at him. The tea inside, filled with slimy green leaves, splattered all over the assistant director’s face.
"Did you hear him just admit to touching us?" Celia stormed over to the police officer, staring him down. "You heard that, right?"
The officer instinctively lowered his head, but he still muttered a reprimand. "You two are causing a public disturbance in a police station. I’m placing you both under arrest!"
It was no use trying to argue with someone who was intentionally turning a blind eye.
Celia and Lily exchanged a look, both silently understanding what the other was thinking.
The room fell quiet for about three seconds.
Celia casually grabbed a stack of papers from the desk and threw them into the air like confetti, while also grabbing a pen holder and launching its contents—pens and scissors—toward the assistant director.
As soon as a few officers tried to move in to subdue her, Lily managed to get the fire extinguisher off the wall and sprayed foam everywhere, hitting both the assistant director and the officers in the face.
Within moments, the entire station was in disarray. Nearly everyone in the room, except for Celia and Lily, was covered in white foam, looking like flour-coated dough.
When Jack arrived, this was the scene that greeted him.
He rubbed his eyes and glanced at the building sign to confirm he was indeed at the police station and not backstage at a circus before cautiously stepping inside.
Meanwhile, Jasper Lawrence sat in his car, holding an iPad that displayed the live feed from the police station. A faint smile played on his lips as he watched Celia, his eyes never leaving her.
The assistant, shocked at how much trouble Madam was causing, swallowed nervously. "Mr. Lawrence, should we intervene?"
After all, things were getting pretty out of hand.
Jasper lifted his gaze slightly, his voice full of indulgence. "Let her have her fun."
Assistant: "..."
He got it—his job was simply to block all information from leaking out and to clean up after Madam’s mess.
Lily’s fire extinguisher was spent, and without resistance, the officers finally managed to grab the two girls by the wrists.
Jasper’s eyes narrowed as he watched one officer take hold of Celia’s wrist. His voice dropped to a chilling tone, "Where’s the police chief? What’s taking him so long?"
"Two more minutes," the assistant reported with precision, sweat beading on his forehead.
At the same time, all the dirt on that assistant director, Mr. Wang, had been thoroughly dug up. If modern technology were just a little more advanced, Jasper might even have dug up information on his unborn children.
The assistant compiled the documents and handed them to Jasper, who casually flipped through a few pages. His black eyes gleamed with malice. "Arrest him in front of my wife. Once she’s gone, have our people take care of him."
The assistant shivered. Even though he had been with Jasper since the company’s early days, the phrase "serving a king is like serving a tiger" kept echoing in his mind.
But he had to admit—Jasper fiercely protected his own. As ruthless as he was to outsiders, he was equally generous to those close to him.
So the formula for survival and success was simple: do your job well and always put Mrs. Lawrence first.
"Let us go!" Lily struggled to free her hand, her skin reddened from the officer’s grip. In contrast, Celia remained calm, and as a result, she was treated more gently.
Jack rushed over, practically running in circles like a frantic ant. "Officer, can’t we talk this out? There’s no need to be so rough with these two defenseless young women!"
The officers nearly fainted from rage. Even having witnessed the chaos firsthand, they couldn’t wrap their heads around how these seemingly gentle and pretty girls had acted like wild monkeys just moments ago.
These girls could give the Monkey King himself a run for his money.
"Defenseless?" One officer bit his tongue and hissed through clenched teeth. "Look at what they’ve done to this place! This isn’t just a simple case of public disorder!"
He wasn’t wrong. The place was a wreck—papers scattered everywhere, random objects strewn about, and the once-pristine white walls were now streaked with stains.
The pièce de résistance was the ceiling fan, which somehow had multiple computer mice hanging from it, their dangling cords adding to the eerie atmosphere.
Jack scratched his head and rested his hands on the officers' arms, trying to get them to ease up. "Let’s calm down. We can talk this out."
"Hands off!" the officer barked. "If you don’t stop, we’ll arrest you too!"
Celia sighed. "Jack, you didn’t think to bring a lawyer?"
At the very least, he could’ve brought a few security guards from the company to add some presence.
Even pretending to be tough would’ve been better than nothing.
The assistant director, hiding in the back, touched the wound on his head and smirked. "So now you’re scared? Want to call a lawyer? I’m telling you, it’s useless!"
He had greased enough palms before coming to give his statement that he initially wanted to settle things quietly, but after dealing with these two crazy women, he was no longer in the mood for any compromises.
"What are you all waiting for? Cuff them all!" one officer ordered.
The silver handcuffs gleamed as they were pulled out.
Just as Celia’s hands were about to be cuffed, a man came rushing through the police station doors, out of breath and shouting, "Oh my god, stop it, you little brats!"
