“We’re here. What do you think?”
Alb took in the mirror behind him and looked around my room. I don’t mind the mirror, but it feels uncomfortable to have him see my room.
“For the time being, if you want to find out more about the predator or Suncatcher’s work we’ll have to do something about your clothes.”
“Ah, I’m sure I’ll stick out like a sore thumb. I do remember some things about culture in this world.”
“Right. What about these clothes? As soon as I find out your preference, I’ll go buy you some.” I found a magazine lying on the ground, after finding the men’s fashion section I handed it to him.
Grimm cast his eyes down and bright light covered his body.
“How’s this?”
When the light faded, Alb was wearing an outfit straight out of the magazine.
“How did you do that? Does that mean you can use magic in this world?”
“Apparently so. I’m capable of using some magic, and it’ll be useful going up against the Predator. Lets head outside, we need to gather information about the black fog, and Suncatcher’s book.”
“Right, let’s see what the newspapers are saying. If there’s anything you don’t understand or if you have any questions, let me know before you react.” I was anticipating the possibility that seeing things for the first time, he might react by chasing after a moving car or using his magic on the machinery.
“Very well. Since we’re in your territory, I’ll defer to you.” I nodded in surprise at his easy acquiescence. As soon as we stepped outside, my eyes widened in surprise. Just like Luke said, a black fog had descended. But people walking outside didn’t appear to be bothered by it.
“But why, when it’s so obvious?”
“It appears that the fog is invisible to those without magical powers.”
I think it’s safe to assume the current situation has something to do with the World of Stories. Just as that thought crossed my mind, I heard people around us whispering.
“Look at him. Doesn’t he look like a model?”
“He’s so tall and handsome!”
“Do you think he’s alone? Maybe I should ask him out for coffee?”
“Oh, dear.” The words came out on a sigh. Being good looking certainly has its downside.
“What’s wrong, Alya?” Alb seemed to notice he was the centre of attention, but it didn’t bother him. Kings must be use to this kind of thing.
“For now, let’s get going. We should try not draw too much attention.” I quickly started walking.
“The weather is really nice.” I finally relaxed when Alb and I neared a park.
“If it’s alright, I’d like to visit a bookstore.”
“Sure… Oh?” Just as I was agreeing to Alb, I noticed a man approaching us. What struck me most about him was that he was swaying unsteadily. The man suddenly collapsed.
“Oh! Are you alright?” Alb and I rushed toward the man.
“He’s unconscious. He’s breathing, but we should call someone”
Alb stumbled with the word, which was likely unfamiliar to him.
“All right. Let’s hope he’s carrying some ID.” I started to reach toward his pocket when…
“Alya, move back!”
“What?” Right when I pulled my hand back, a book fell out of his bag. The pages fluttered as it fell, and there was no mistaking that they were black.
“Is it Suncatcher?” As Alb spoke his creator’s name, he carefully reached for the book. Just as his hand touched the book, something dark came pouring out of it. A black cloud started to form.
“So, he’s ready to show himself…” Alb muttered standing up, positioning himself into a fighting pose. “It’s getting worse. Stand back, Alya.”
We stood in silence facing the predator.
