Saturday 9:55 p.m.
Kendra and Chris have just finished their date and Chris is walking Kendra up to her door.
"See I told I'd have you home before ten." Chris said smiling at her.
"Yeah, you promise me you'd have me home by then." Kendra agreed.
"Just wish I could have you longer."
They stopped in front of the door. "So I'll see you later at the poker game next week?"
"Of course, I'll call you, we can try to go out before then too."
Chris smiled, "That sounds good, I love you."
"I love you, too." Kendra ended on his lips. She then took out her keys and unlocked her door, "Bye Chris." she waved.
"Bye, love."
When Kendra walked in her house she sat down on her couch still thinking of Chris. He's a very good man, good job, very loyal, and she cares about him deeply. However, she is still being very cautious with herself. She can't give herself to this man and she can't figure out why.
---
The next morning she woke to the sound of her phone vibrating.
"Hello." she answered not looking at the screen.
"KJ! That is no way to answer the phone when I call you!"
Kendra quickly shot up, "Jay-Lese! Oh. My. God. How are you!"
"I'm great, waiting on you to open this door it's freezing out here!"
Kendra gasped and leaped off her bed. She ran toward the stairway and skipped all the way down the steps sprinting toward the door. She quickly turned the latch and removed the chain. When she opened the door Kendra leaped into her big sister's arms. Kendra wrapped her legs around her as they shared a tight hug. It's been months since Jazmine's been home.
Kendra finally let go and walked into the house with Jazmine following her.
"Girl when did you get here?" Kendra asked closing the door.
"A few hours ago. I went over momma's house first to visit her."
Kendra nodded walking the kitchen to make some hot chocolate.
"So where's my niece."
"With her dad." I sighed.
"Oh okay,"
Kendra knew what was coming next.
"How are you and your man doing?"
I smiled, "We're doing great, we just went on a date last night."
"And you and Anthony?," she asked.
I hesitated, "We're cordia,l" She simply stated.
Jazmine raised her eyebrow. She knew better.
"Really, KJ? Five years and no feelings have come back?"
"No, Jay-Lese! None have come back."
"Hmm, yeah, they haven't came back alright," Jazmine said, gasping her cup of hot coco Kendra made for her, then walked passed her out the kitchen, but not before saying, "...because they never left."
Kendra just looked at her sister walking out the kitchen, Kendra wanted so bad to refute her response, but she couldn't. Kendra knew she had given her heart away a long time ago.
Sunday 6:55 p.m.
Kendra was washing dishes when she heard the door bell ring. She dried her hands while going to answer the door.
"Mommy!" Paris ran to her.
"Hey, PJ, how was your weekend?"
"It was good, me and daddy had fun!"
Kendra looked up at Anthony and nodded.
"I had to keep my promise," he said.
She smiled, then Paris started tugging her on her leg.
"Mommy, I have to tell you something!"
"Wait just a second Pj I have to talk to daddy."
"It's important mommy."
She looked at Anthony, "Hold on."
"Sure."
Paris pulled Kendra to the hallway.
"Mommy, I don't like daddy's girlfriend."
"You saw daddy's girlfriend?"
"Yeah, I woke up one night and daddy had his shirt off and she was bent over-"
Kendra put her hand up signaling her to stop.
"It's okay baby I'll talk to daddy go wash up for dinner."
Kendra walked back to the door where Anthony was standing, "So you invited Kim over while PJ was there?" she asked a little angry.
"Kenny look, I didn't invite her over she just came over unannounced. I didn't mean for things to turn out the way they did, it just happened. I'm really sorry, Kenny. I usually don't have her over when our daughter is there, it won't happen again, I promise."
Kendra looked into his eyes, she couldn't stay mad at him. Not with the innocent eyes he possessed. They made her heart melt every time.
"Do you forgive me Kenny-Rose?" he asked.
Kendra smiled, "Of course, but please, Anthony, don't let it happen again."
He nodded and they hugged each other.
"Is that Anthony?!" Jazmine scream.
"Hey Jay-Lese, how are you?"
"I'm great! You look good as always. Things at the job going well?"
"I can't complain," He answered, "Listen, I better get going. Um, we might have to figure out something else to do for Paris' birthday, she says she doesn't want a party."
"Really, hmm, I might have to ask her what she wants." Kendra replied.
"Yeah, but I'll be in touch. See you ladies later."
"...Oh Ant, wait."
"Yeah."
Kendra walked up to him, "Um, Chris and I are throwing at poker game, and it would mean a lot to me if you came."
"Umm, Kenny, I don't know..."
"You can bring Kim to keep you company." Kendra pushed out.
"I doubt she'll come but, yeah I'll be there."
Kendra smiled, "Okay, it's next weekend, I'll give you the address later."
Anthony nodded, "Okay, I'll see you later Kenny-Rose."
He kissed her cheek and continued walking to his car.
Kendra watched him walk to his car. 'Why did he have to leave five years ago?' She thought to herself.
