Maybe if they had known something that would have helped, they could have shared, but the bizarre knowledge they had wouldn’t have brought her back. There was money to keep the body going, keep food pushing down the tube in its throat, keep fluids dripping through the line in its arm, keep someone on hand to wash it and turn it so it wouldn’t wind up with sores. Someone, at some point, figured out how to contact her parents, and an email was dispatched. No reply came, and no one knew what else to try. Mike kept an eye on her email account, and Connie kept tabs on her home phone. They had to try to get in touch
