Chapter 38

8135 Words

Chaos was bombarded with criticism and pleas to reconsider his decision. He knew his family were just looking out for him, but he was old enough to make his own decisions, and he wished they would place some trust in him. Accepting Anathema wasn"t a decision he made lightly, but when he saw the desperation in those grey eyes, he couldn"t turn him away and certainly couldn"t kill him. So he ignored everybody around him, even his father who begged him to see sense, and Chaos tried to drag Anathema to his feet, hoping to take him to a room to get some rest. Anathema staggered to his feet, but after a few steps his knees gave way and he collapsed to the floor, shivering from head to foot. Chaos dropped down beside him, and pulled Anathema"s shirt up to get a look at the bandage on his side.
