I’ve heard about you from any number of people, the woman had said, but she had been in too much of a hurry to mention any names. She was awfully sorry she had to call Alison on such short notice, but she had just heard that the man who was supposed to make the cake for her had gotten sick, and she simply had to have the cake by three that afternoon.
