Roxanne slowly opened her eyes, groggily taking in her surroundings. Her room was bright, the sunlight streaming through the windows. She rubbed her eyes, trying to shake off the sleep. Her body felt heavy, her eyes burning from lack of sleep. She looked at the other side of the bed, finding it empty. She thought Jaxon had left, and she felt a pang of disappointment. She got out of bed, her legs feeling heavy like lead. She stumbled to the bathroom, washing her face and brushing her teeth. As she got out of her room, the smell of fried eggs and bacon hit her nose. She followed the scent to her tiny kitchen, where Jaxon was standing, a spatula in his hand. "You're cooking?" she asked, surprised. "I thought you didn't know how to." "Good morning to you too, Princess," Jaxon said, smiling.
