Chapter 27 - Faceing Kayden

1696 Words
A week had past behind the Councils walls, and I felt like I was going insane. On the first day my brothers had successfully gotten me to their floor without anybody spotting us. A couple hours in, a man, who later turned out to be our father showed up, to scold my brothers for their long absent. Meeting my father, didn’t go as expected. He had started talking the second he walked through the door in a hard and cold tone. He then saw me, and all life drained from his face. He went rigid and then started yelling at my brothers for disobeying his order to leave me alone and then about the fact that they brought me here. My father looked at me for, like, two seconds in total and then ignored me completely. Before leaving he had ordered my brothers to keep me looked up on their floor, because nobody could see me. At all. So, I was looked up or more like cooped up on their floor, because they didn’t lock the door or anything like that. Our father was right about me being here was stupid and it was for the best that nobody saw me, but it still hurt that he didn’t want to talk to me. Or at least look at me. I closed the book harder than I had to and sighed hard. I loved my brothers, but I couldn’t stay here. It was slowly killing me and my wolf, who wasn’t used to be caged inside me, wanted out just as bad as me. I stood up from the couch, that I was sleeping on, because I didn’t want to kick one of my brothers out of their room or bed for that matter. I walked to the window and looked at the surroundings, that didn’t show much. Just a bunch of trees and nothing else. The door to the hallway then suddenly opened with so much forced that it the wall. I turned and saw my brothers walk through it, all with a grim expression on their faces. “What happened?” I asked and Alaviv shook his head at me. “Your dear husband is here.” He told me in a mocking tone, and I tried and failed to contain my smile. “I know.” I told him sincerely. I knew the second Kayden set foot on the Councils Island. It was probably one of the reasons why I was so restless right now. “He’s here because of you, so the four of us is going to take a shower and then we are taking you to him. We have to stop him, before he says too much.” Videric said before motioning for his brothers to go to their induvial rooms. He then looked at me and shook his head in defeat. “We are going to do everything we can to protect you, but we can’t go against the Council.” I walked up to him and put a hand on his shoulder. “But I can. I don’t belong to the Council or Kayden. I will fight for my freedom, so just protect our brothers and I will take care of me. I always have.” I gave him a small smile and to my surprise he pulled me in for a hug. “You are my baby-sister, and I will always try to protect you. I will give my life for you, even if you don’t want me to… So, it’s killing me, that you have to fight the Council on your own.” He whispered it in my hair, but I heard him just fine. I hugged him back and then let go of him. “Now go take that shower. You stink.” I made a face at him, and he laughed. He then walked towards his own room, and I sat down on the couch. I had no idea how they knew that Kayden was here, since they had been out training, like they always did. They woke up early every day and went somewhere to train, while I sort of trained in here, by the couch. But if my brothers knew Kayden was here, so did our father, but I was pretty sure that he wasn’t’ going to help us out. Us kids was alone in this, and I was alone in this if the Council began giving orders. I had to be strong for this s**t. I couldn’t let my brothers down or get them in trouble. I meant what I said to Videric. If he just focused on protecting our brothers, then I would look out for myself. My brothers could be killed if they were to go against Council orders, so it was up to me, to make Kayden back down. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We were rushing down the halls, our boots making a lot of noise on the stone floor. My brothers stopped in front of a huge set of doors and Videric signaled for us to take a breath. To get our heartbeats down and calm our self just a bit. It didn’t help though. I was mad as hell over Kayden showing his face here. “So, as I was saying. She’s my wife and I want her back.” Kayden’s voice could then be hurt through the doors and before my brothers could stop me, I swung open the doors, driven by my anger. “Wife huh? That’s only when it suits you.” I held back the profanity as I walked into the room, eyes darting over the people to find Kayden. And then I stared him down, hard. “Leigh.” Two voices were calling my name and I looked around yet again. And saw Rylee. I did not expect to see him and some of the hatred and anger left me, only to come back seconds later when I remembered his cold treatment of me, when Kayden kicked me out. “I’m guessing you are Crown Princess Leigh then.” A man asked and I looked at him, trying really hard to reel back my emotions. I had to or my Wolf would make an appearance. “That would be me yes.” I gave him a small nod and took a less aggressive stance. Or I hoped I did. “And how did you get behind our walls?” He asked, as he starred me down and I felt my brothers shuffle nervously behind me. “Members of your Cobalt Order helped me. Thought I would be safer here, than out there.” I partly lied. It wasn’t a complete lie, but I did leave out some huge details though. And for the first time I really looked at the other people in the room, beside Kayden and Rylee. There was the man who had spoken to me, a female there were hiding her face behind the hood of her cloak and to other men, who looked slightly like each other. “Crown Prince Kayden and Prince Rylee tells us that you were kidnapped.” The female said as she took the hood down. “They didn’t. I’m here on my own accord. On my own free will.” I answered her, while looking at her. What game was Kayden playing here? How much did he tell them? Kayden left his chair and walked up to me, but I stepped back as he reached for me. And hurt flashed in his eyes for a second, but he was quick to hide it. He then turned towards the Council members, with a clear mask of fake emotions. What was going on? “I thank you for the sit down but will take my leave now. No need for drastic measures now that the members from the Cobalt Order brought my wife to me.” Kayden then slightly bowed for the Council, when he was done talking. “I’m not going anywhere with you.” I hissed as he reached for me again, not caring that I wasn’t completely aware of what was going on. “Don’t make this any more difficult than it already is.” Rylee whispered as he got close. “Difficult? The two of you are the ones that is making this difficult. My so-called husband didn’t want to marry me but were forced to in order to save your kingdom. His lover then tried to have me killed. Putting me in the hospital for weeks, while he just left. Only to come back and banish me. And do nothing about the attack on me… I don’t see were in all of this, I’m the one being difficult.” I crossed my arms as much as I could and stared them down. While also trying my hardest to push my emotions down, so my Wolf wouldn’t appear. “Seems like you left out some details Crown Prince.” The female remarked with a small smirk, and I saw the nervous glance Kayden shared with Rylee. “I didn’t think to burden you with stuff, that had nothing to do with the Council.” Kayden answered while fisting his hands and biting down hard after. “You banished the girl and then our Cobalt Order took her in. And she is now here. On our territory, at her own free will. Looks like you no longer have a claim to her.” One of the other guys commented and small pieces of the puzzle came together. We were getting ourselves in trouble here and it was all because Kayden decided to show his face. “I would happily take her.” The guy next to him voiced out, while eyeing me creepily. Something that made both my brothers, Kayden, Rylee and I growl. Kayden took it a step further though. He launched through the room, grabbed the collar of the guy and smashed his head against the table. “She is mine. MY MATE. Don’t you dare touch her or even look at her.” He growled before letting go of the guy. And the whole room went silent after that. Nicely done Kayden…
