Chapter 22 - Are you serious?

1663 Words
----Kayden POV---- My feelings had finally returned to normal, now that I had been in my human form, for some time now, but I still got furious upon finding out she was missing. My wolf was on high alert and wanted to go looking for her, but it was hours since she went missing and my Pack had tried and failed to find her. Deryn had dispatched wolves to search everywhere, while I had been asleep in my bed. After my confrontation with Leigh after returning back I went straight to my room, where I took a shower and then collapsed on my bed. The hours I had been out, someone fund a book on the floor of the gazebo, which apparently was Leighs favorite spot at the moment. That’s when Deryn had people begin looking for her, because she would not just wander of like that. Not after what happened to her. I was still tired, but wasn’t able to sleep for my wolf, that was howling to me to do something. And I did, in a way. I tore through my room like a tornado and ruined everything. I may be back to the same emotional range as before her accident, but something happening to her, the second I returned undid me in an unexpected way. I had somewhat come to terms with my wolfs attachment to her, despite not understanding it, I did however still not fancy her. I already had a Mate, a Mate that must be beside herself though to my despairing act and I need to seek her out once Leigh was found. “The Crown Princess is at the front gate. Safe and sound.” A pack member Mind-linked me and stopped me from destroying my electronics. That was good. That she was safe, but also because it stopped me from destroying more stuff. Maybe I wasn’t completely okay just yet, but I had to make up for it somehow, starting with treating Leigh with some sort of respect. I still hated our situation, but I no longer hated her and the things she had told me, when I returned, was what had set me straight. I didn’t have to hate her as well as the situation and I didn’t have to love her, just because we were married. She wasn’t forcing anything down upon me and never had. I was just too self-centered to realize it at the time. After straightening myself I walked out my room telling the maid, that walked by to steer clear of my room and then I set of to face the result of my biggest mistake ever. And I fund her standing in the formal living room, used when quests showed up, talking with my family. For a brief moment I just stood there, in the doorway taking in the sight of her, scanning for wounds. Her dress was ruined, but other than that see seemed fine and I walked up to her. Seeing me walking her way see looked up and my wolf started howling, seeing her flushed cheeks and slightly red and swollen eyes. Someone had made my wife cry and they were going to suffer for it. Done was the time where she was just some annoying girl. She was my wife, and it truly was about time I treated her as such. I crossed the room, intent on keeping the mindset, when I faced her, but I froze as a familiar scent hit me. Anger rushed through my body and sent my blood boiling. “Why the f**k do you reek of the Darkmoon Walkers?” My voice dripping with venom as I said it. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----Leigh POV---- I involuntary flinched at Kayden’s tone and the venom evident in it didn’t go over my head. I did figure it would be hard to explain everything, giving I was the daughter of their enemies. I didn’t choice my parents, so they shouldn’t blame me for that. Not to mention, that I had never been part of the war between them, and it was the same for my brothers or so I hoped. “Why do I smell them on you Leigh!?” He growled deeply, when I didn’t answer him the first time around. The rest of his family looked at me with expressions that were hard to read. “Is this why you were gone the entire day? To spend time with them?” His eyes darkened and knowing about werewolves now, I knew it meant his wolf was close to taking over, though to his strong emotions. “Despite knowing what they are to my family you still deiced to stoop so low and plotted with them? Hate me all you want. I deserve it, but my family doesn’t.” I was lost for words. Is that really what he thought of me? When on earth had I ever given of the expression or something similar, that I would plot against them? Not saying anything made Kayden angrier and he grabbed hold of me, as he brought me closer to him. His grip on my left shoulder hurt like hell, but I just stared into his eyes, were I saw pain buried within the anger and hatred he sent my way. “I hate this scent on you.” He sorts of whispered close to my ear, his warm breath hitting the skin on my neck. “You are my wife and the only scent allowed on you is mine.” He added with a husky whisper and this time his warm breath fanned my face, instead of my neck. Having him this close brought back the feeling from before the attack, that I had tried so hard to suppress. I felt the sparks flutter their way through my body and my body temperature spiked. Even the magnetic feeling was slowly returning. It left me paralyzed, as it was hitting all at once and stronger than before. “Aren’t you going to say something?” He questioned, while the pain in his eyes slowly vanished, buried underneath the anger and hate, that were taking over. His gaze then hardened, and he let go of me so abruptly that I tumbled back a little. “Say something for f***s sake!” He shouted and I involuntary flinched again at the harsh and slightly deadly tone. “It’s complicated.” I got out, my voice trembling slightly. It made Kayden even more angry, if that was even possible, because he already looked like he was going to explode. “Complicated!” He roared while taking a menacing step towards me. The guy was practically shedding at this point. “Touch her and you are dead.” A new voice brought Kayden to a halt, and everybody looked in the voice’s direction. I froze because I knew that voice. Please say I’m wrong I beg as I turned my gaze towards the voice, knowing full well what I was going to see. There in the doorway stood my brothers with a deadly glare on their faces. I told them not to show up more than once. Why didn’t they just listen to me? The entire royal family stiffened and the tension in the air so thick that even I could feel it. And then hell sort of broke loose, as four set of twins pounced at each other. They then circled each other, moving in perfect sync with their siblings, while growling aggressively at each other. I watched in horror as they sized each other up and getting ready for an intense fight. I then saw Alaviv reach for his boot as Kayden geared up to jump him. Panic rushed through me and not really thinking I ran into the middle of all the siblings. “Don’t” I slightly begged as I looked eyes with Kayden, not wanting anybody to get hurt. The look in Kayden’s eyes, the look of betrayal, cut deep and I slumped my shoulders. This look hurt more than all the other s**t he had done to me. He was not the only one with that look tough. His entire family looked at me like that and this really were worse than all those years at the Mebobet castle. The entire room was suddenly deadly quiet, and I looked around my in-laws faces. “If you would just let me, explain.” I looked at them all again, hoping to change their minds, but the look of betrayal didn’t waver one bit. In the end my gaze fell upon Kayden and held his cold gaze. It was like everybody just waited for something, but what it was I didn’t know and made it hard to figure out what to do. So, the room went silent once again. Desperate I looked to my brothers, hoping to come up with an idea to handle this, but I came up empty. I need some air, so I turned on my heel and walked towards the opening behind my brothers. “Leigh.” Kayden growled low and I turned my head to look at him. “Step foot in this kingdom again and I will have your head.” He warned, his voice cold and unforgiving. He couldn’t be serious, right? He looked serious though, but it didn’t keep me from voicing my question out loud. “Seriously?” He clenched his jaw shoot and gave me a disapproving glare. “I want you gone this instant.” I just looked at him dumbstruck. How could he do this to me? But reality kind of set-in right that very same moment. He never wanted me to be his wife. All this time he had been looking for a way to get rid of me and know he had. “Guess you finally got what you wanted all a long.” My voice might have been emotionless, but inside I was struggling to contain my emotions.
