----Kayden POV----
I felt like I was being wrongfully punished, like everything were against me. And I was fighting my very own wolf on my take on Leigh. I lost control for a second when she walked down the stairs in that dress. My wolf wanted to Mark her right there on the stairs, but she wasn’t my Mate for f**k sake. I punched the punching bag a little harder and saw it swing back fast. My parents were going to kill me, because I was no longer attending the welcoming party, but my mother did tell me to go cool off before going back. The problem at hand, where the fact that I wasn’t able to cool off. I was frustrated and agitated by my wolfs reaction to Leigh’s present and I suspected it weren’t going away anytime soon.
“The Crown Princess is walking around in the garden. What do you want to be done about it, Alfa?” Deryn’s voice echoed in my head as he Mind-linking me. What the f**k was she doing in the garden? She was supposed to me inside enjoying the party my parents were throwing in her f*****g honor.
“Get her inside Deryn. She can’t be out there with Rouges on the loose.” With a sigh I removed the bandages from my hands as I Mind-linked him back. I told my parents that this was a dumb idea, but they wanted to hold the party and now Leigh’s present in the garden was interfering with the security of the grounds. I went into the bathroom that were an extension of the gym and turned on one of the showers. I striped out of the shorts and t-shirt and stepped under the steaming hot water. This girl was f*****g up my life big time and she hasn’t even been here a day.
As I stepped out of the shower Deryn’s voice echoed in my head again.
“I smell Rouges and she’s not inside yet.” f**k. My. Life. I groaned at his new information. Who hard could it be to get a human back inside?
“Leigh is waking around the garden and Rouges are on the grounds. Get her inside before the Rouges find her.” I Mind-linked Rylee, because I knew he was still attending the party. There was no way that guy was missing out on a party.
“Rylee is taking care of Leigh, so get those Rouges away before they catch her scent. I’m on my way.” I Mind-linked Deryn back and hurried up getting dressed. Now where in hell, where I going to let Leigh get killed. My parents would kill ME if that happened. And I would look weak, if I wasn’t even able to protect a mere human in my own territory and especially this close to the castle.
“Get people out of the room Kaylen and further into the castle. We have a Rouge situation in the garden.” I raced down the halls while I Mind-linked my sister.
“On it.” I knew that I could count on my siblings in times like this. Rylee would get Leigh inside, despite not Mind-linking me back, while Kaylen moved the party. Now Deryn and my Pack just had to keep the Rouges away from Leigh. I heard a wolf howl, and it weren’t one for my mine. f**k. I reached inward and drew on my wolfs strength to run faster. And I reached the garden just as a huge brown wolf showed up and cut Leigh and Rylee of. Its eyes were looked onto Leigh, and it growled deep, as Rylee pushed her behind him. Deryn showed up with a rifle in his hands, because Leigh was here and he therefore couldn’t wolf out, and where slowly walking closer to the wolf. I walked up in the other direction as an attempt to get the wolfs focus on me and not Deryn and it turned its head to look at me. The wolf where around the same size as myself in wolf form and the closer I got to the wolf the more ager my own wolf got. Leigh saw Deryn and started fidgeting behind Rylee.
“You can’t do that.” Her voice was filed with pain, which I didn’t understand, but I ignored it. Now was not the time to take her feelings into account. This would end badly if I hesitated. Deryn lifted the rifle zeroing in on the wolf and just as he was about to shoot, Leigh broke loose from Rylee’s grip and rushed forward.
“DON’T!” She jumped in front of the wolf as the shoot rang out and as in slow-motion, I saw the wolf turn its head and push Leigh down, but not before the shoot hit her. I could smell the blood and I heard her gasp in pain. The wolf moved and I saw Leigh lying in the pebbles clutching her right upper arm with her left hand. Blood was flowing out between her fingers and the face she where making showed she where in a great deal of pain. The wolf growled loudly looking in Deryn’s direction, while laying down. Leigh grabbed hold of the wolf’s fur with her right hand, despite the pain and swung herself up and within seconds she was sitting on the wolfs back.
“Run.” She whispered it to the wolf, but I where able to hear it with my enhanced hearing. The wolf got up slowly and took for running towards the forest, with Leigh clinging to its fur with her right arm. And I just stood there looking dumbstruck after them.
“What the f**k just happened?” Rylee was the one to break the silence and I turned in his direction.
“Why did you let go of her! And why the f**k did you shoot her!” I turned to Deryn, who turned to look at me, but I held a hand up before any of them got the chance to say anything.
“Just find them. This s**t is giving me a headache.” Deryn dropped the rifle and shifted into his wolf and ran towards the forest.
“We need to find her before our parents hears about this.” And with that Rylee and I both shifted and followed Deryn.
