The Island As hangovers go Thai, hangovers were not that bad. I think it had something to do with no alarm clocks, work, university, or any combination of these being the main reasons. By two o’clock we were already up and wondering how anyone could work in the all-engulfing big city heat Bangkok produced. Anne, as promised, disappeared off for her mid ‘morning’ massage. I thought about it. Seriously thought about it. But forewent one until later to Skype Charles and let him know our plans. Who knows if we’ll have internet in Ko Pha Ngan. It was only our third day in Bangkok, and I was already making friends along Kao San Road. Or at least people recognised me. The fried banana lady outside our guesthouse automatically held up the same number of bananas on sticks I’d eaten the day before
