The Best Friend Test

(Gabriel's P.O.V.)

After Sabrina went inside for the night, Apollo did a search of the area around Sabrina's house. The smell of the rouge went south past her property. He went home to the pack house. He shifted to Gabriel and put on the clothes he left in his truck. When he stepped inside his house, he immediately went to find his father. Thomas was in his office when Gabriel found him.

"What's wrong son?",Thomas asked concerned by the look on Gabriel's face.

"I was at Sabrina's as Apollo. A rouge showed up it came from the South.", Gabriel told his father.

"Where is the rouge now?", Thomas said as he used the pack link to summon Tyler.

"Dead. Apollo took it on to protect Sabrina. We buried it in her yard.", Gabriel sighed sitting in a chair in front of his father's desk. His head in his hands rubbing his forehead, Gabriel waited for Tyler. When Tyler entered the room, Gabriel explained what happened both the night before and this night. Thomas and Tyler booth had a look of concern on their faces.

"So let me get this straight, You went to her house the night your room got tossed and destroyed as Apollo. Then again tonight when a rouge went after your mate and your sure it was after her?", Thomas asked Gabriel.

"Yes, I'm sure it was after her. It was weird. It didn't even care that I was there until I got in its way. It was going for her.", Gabriel said as he thought over the events of the night.

"Between this and the event the other night, I don't think it a coincidence. I'll lead a couple of our guys to find out where the rouge came from. Until we figure out who's doing this, I suggest we keep an eye on you and your mate.", Tyler suggested as he linked with his squad to tell them the plan. Gabriel told Tyler the address to Sabrina's house and left to go track the rouge.

"We can't exactly guard Sabrina round the clock. She doesn't even know about us.", Gabriel sighed.

"Maybe we won't have to. She has a home and a job. Most of her time is taken with that right? So all we need to do is keep as many eyes as we can trust on you both. Based on the first incident, it's someone who knows this house and you. They also know about Sabrina based on what happened tonight. We'll only tell the people we trust. Your mother, Tyler and Toby should be enough with you and myself", Thomas said thinking out loud.

"I'll tell Toby tomorrow morning. Right now I need a shower and sleep. Tomorrow is Sabrina's day off from work. I wanna be at her house before she goes anywhere.", Gabriel said as the day started to catch up with him. He yawned and stood. Thomas hugged him.

"Get some sleep. I'll tell your mother and Tyler the plan. One last thing, introduce her to your best friend. That way when he starts hanging around it won't be unusual.", Thomas told his son as he ushered him to bed.

The next morning Gabriel woke. early and found his way downstairs looking for Toby. He found Toby in the kitchen stuffing food into his face. Toby held his hand up asking his friend to wait as he swallowed the bite that was in his mouth.

"Before you say anything, my dad already filled me in on most of it and your mom finished the rest. I have your back. Just tell me what you wanna do.", Toby said. Gabriel smiled at his friend. He never had to worry about Toby. Toby is and always has been his best friend. Him being a beta and Gabriel being an alpha had never been a factor in their friendship. If Gabriel ever needed anything, Toby was always there to help. Grabbing a plate and loading all the meatiest breakfast foods on his plate, he sat with Toby.

"How would you like to me my mate?", Gabriel said as he grinned at Toby.

"I'd loved to me her. What did you have in mind?", Toby whispered leaning towards his friend.

"Today is our do over date. I wanna make it just us and some fun. Eat up. We have to get going.", Gabriel said as he began to inhale his food.

"Going where?", Toby said in between hurried bites.

"We have work to do.", Gabriel said as he continued to eat.

"Yay, work.", Toby said sarcastically as he finished his food.

"I'm glad your excited. I'm gonna text Sabrina and ask her if she wants to go for coffee. I'll text you a place and stuff I need set up. When your done, you join us for coffee.", Gabriel said as he finished his food.

"So what you're really saying is you wanna hang out with your girlfriend and have coffee while I do all the work.", Toby sighed at his friends plan. Gabriel chuckled and pat Toby on the shoulder.

"Just think of it this way. If it works, you'll never have to do it again. Besides, when you find your mate I'll do the same for you.", Gabriel said laughing at his friend. Toby stood from the table and placed his plate in a bin for dirty dishes.

"Some how I doubt that but I'm game send me the info and I'll see it gets done.", Toby sighed as he made his way out of the room. Gabriel texted Sabrina asking her out for coffee and to meet his best friend. She texted back an hour later. She said she would be ready at 9am. He said he'd pick her up then and went to find his mother for help.

At 9am Gabriel was at Sabrina's house to pick her up. He went up to knock on the door. Sabrina answered and the smell of cherry blossoms wafted towards him. She had a big smile on her face. It made his heart jump whenever he saw her. They get in his truck and went to the coffee house to wait for Toby. Gabriel order for them and they picked a table by the window.

"What's Toby like?", Sabrina asked Gabriel obviously nervous about meeting his beat friend.

"Toby's the opposite of me. He is quiet and stand-offish until he gets to know you. He's been my best friend since we were in diapers.", Gabriel told her holding her hand to calm her nerves ignoring the buzz that went up his arm at their touch. He was keeping an eye out for anyone who seemed suspicious not that he knew what that was supposed to look like exactly. Every time he thought about it, he came to the same though. Who would come after him and Sabrina? Why? Sabrina was his mate. If anything happened to her, it would kill him.

"Is everything okay?", Sabrina asked breaking him out of his dark thoughts. He smile when he looked into her eyes.

"Yeah I'm just wondering what's taking Toby so long to get here.", Gabriel lied trying not to worry her. Toby showed up a couple minuets after their coffee was served. He put in his own order and joined them.

"So you're Sabrina? I'm Toby. Nice to meet you.", Toby said as he held out his hand to shake Sabrina's.

"Nice to meet you too. Has he told you a lot about me?", Sabrina asked giggling.

"He never stops talking about you ever since he met you.", Toby said smiling at his friend. Sabrina laughed. They all sat there enjoying their coffee and getting to know each other. Toby and Sabrina bonded over books, Game of Thrones, and the loss of a parent. Sabrina lost her father to cancer and Toby lost his mom to a rouge attack but, he told Sabrina cancer as well. It was nice to see for Gabriel's best friend and his mate getting along but their closeness also made him jealous.

"Well I'm glad I could meet you but I gotta get going. I'm going to met up with my dad we're supposed to train together.", Toby told Gabriel and Sabrina as he got up to leave.

"It was nice to meet you too.", Sabrina said as she waved Toby goodbye.

"Text you later man.", Gabriel said as he got up with Sabrina and went back to his truck.

"That was fun. Did I pass?", Sabrina asked Gabriel as he open the door of his truck for her.

"Pass? What do you mean?", Gabriel asked confused.

"Yeah you know. The best friend usually has to approve of the new girl before she's approved.",Sabrina said laughing at Gabriel's confused face.

"I think you passed then. That's the most I've seen Toby talk to someone who wasn't family or me.", Gabriel told her. Gabriel closed her door and got into the truck.

"I'm gonna take you home and pick you up again at 6:30 for our do over date.", Gabriel told Sabrina as he started to drive towards Sabrina's place.

"Where are we going for our date?", Sabrina asked excitedly.

"It's a surprise.", he said as he pulled up in front of her house. Sabrina kissed him on the cheek and hoped out of the truck before Gabriel could stop her and give her more.

"Tonight then.", Sabrina said as she walked towards her front door and stepped inside. Sighing, Gabriel made his way towards his house to get ready for tonight.
