Elle’s Pov
Walking slowing with the bag I was giving and my little boy in my hands, I tried to find my way to my car but suddenly, a wave of dizziness hit me.
No, this was the time to be weak and faint. Even though I do, no one will be willing to carry someone like me. I wasn’t even looking when the next thing I heard was the horn of a car.
“Are you alright?” A small voice said and the next thing I remember was me blacking out.
I don’t know how long I was out but the fear of no feeling my baby next to me woke me up.
“You’re finally awake?” A middle age woman said. The hospital didn’t look well maintained and it occurred to me that it belonged to the rogues.
“Where’s my son?” I asked trying to get out of bed.
“Easy he’s just by your side. Just look to your left.”
And just like she said, Lucian was next to me and his clothes were already changed too.
“I thought he needed new clothes and so I grabbed them from your bag and changed him up.
“Thank you.”
“It’s fine, but I was wondering why a young girl like you should be all alone with a child. Don’t you have parent or a mate who should be the father of this handsome child,”
The mention of father made me remember how Logan kicked me out of the house with his child in my arms. I kept quite and the woman took it as an hint that i wasn’t ready for the conversation.
“I’m sorry I asked. I’m a rogue too and I know how it feels when you get neglected especially with a child too.” She said.
I didn’t want to ask her about herself so I turned to play with my son.
“Do you have a home.”
“No I don’t.” I said truthfully.
“Well, I don’t want you to take it like an offense but will you like to come stay with me??
I was speechless for a while and could find any words to reply her.
“I’m sorry if you feel offended.” She said.
“No…no, I’m just surprised that someone is willing to take me in.”
“Ohh… I’ll be so happy if you say yes.”
“Yes ma’am, I’ll gladly come live with you.” I said and tear began to flow from my eyes and she stretched to clean them for me.
That day, I was discharged as the doctor confirmed that they was nothing serious. He gave me so vitamins and urged to take the and eat healthy food so as to regain back my body.
The drive to the strange woman’s home was a bit long and when we finally got to a big mansion, I realized it was locked in the rogue area and couldn’t be easily seen.
“We are here.” She said.
She quickly stepped out of the car and turned around and get my bag and Lucian from me. How could this type of house be in this side of the city and I never came across it?
“Let’s go in, it’s too cold to stand outside.” She said and followed her.
The inside was extravagantly filled with expensive things that I couldn’t help but stare and admire. Of course, you’ll have to pause and admire and question how such a woman has such wealth.
But I didn’t want to be greedy and ask questions.
“Please have a sit while I make you some food.”
“Thank you.”
She took it upon herself to get Lucian all tucked in her bed as he was fast asleep. I became curious as to how comfortable he was with the strange woman.
“Thank you ma’am.” I said with all sincerity. She was the second person that was ever nice to me since I became a rogue.
“Oh, I totally forgot.my name is Lucy.”
“Okay ma’am and I’m…”
“Ember. I know that.” She said with a smile and walked back to where I thought was the kitchen. Few minutes later sge returned back with a tray filled with toast and hot coffee.
I was glad that she added coffee.
“Thank you ma’am, I mean Lucy. Well, it would be difficult to get used to calling you by your name.” I said and my tummy rumbled making me feel embarrassed.
“Seems you’re very hungry, cmon eat up while I arrange a room for you.”
“Thank you.”
I began to eat until she got back and had a sit next to me.
“Do you leave alone Ma’am?” I was forced to because such a woman should have kids in such a big house.”
“I do, but he’s away.” She said with a sad smile and I wished I didn’t ask.
“Thank you for the meal Ma’am.”
“Please do call me Lucy, I feel a bit bad when I’m called ma’am.” She said with a weak smile.
“Okay Lucy.” I said.
“Come, let me show you around the house.” She said and we both stood up. She really was good at touring me around the house. Many rooms were in the house including a library. My heart leaped for joy, one of the places where I loved to be at and forget my sorrows.
Immediately we got into the library, she showed me all the collections of books she has and I was amazed at how she was able to buy this thousands of books.
“Are you in college?” She eventually asked and I shaked my head. I was about to take my college entrance exams before my life tore apart in the most unbelievable way.
“Not yet.”
“Hmm, we’ll I guess life as a rogue is very bad. The society shuns people like us and deprive us of all the good of live.”
“Yeah, I guess.” I started at her for a while as she walked ahead of me still talking but I wasn’t listening. I wanted to tell her that I was born a rogue but was forced to become one. But who cares.
“Well, I’ve decided that since I like you even when we have just met, I’ll buy you through college.”
I was beyond shocked. How can this strange woman who just picked me from the road side agree to put me through college? The tears that I was trying to hold back began to run down my eyes.
“Thank you soo much Lucy? You don’t know how much this means to me.” I said.
“It’s fine Ember, from now on you’re my daughter and you don’t need to suffer or sleep in the streets too. I’ll make sure you and my young little one grows up well.” She said and she pulled me into a hug.
My life was taking the right turn now and right there I promised myself that I’ll make sure I succeed even as a rogue.
