“What the…!”
The sudden reverse in the battle got every one’s attention as a confused Harry stared blankly at the scene before his eyes, a second later a loud roar erupted from his nemesis and his attention snapped back to the Iron Kong who had taken the advantage of his distraction and swung its thick arms down aiming to smash the guy apart. He cursed under his breath as he dodged away and swung his branch on the gorilla’s back, he already had the upper hand but that lapse in concentration had almost cost him. He knew Adam was around them somewhere but he wasn’t going to chance his life on him.
“Wh-What is this, what just happened…”
Isaac could barely understand what just happened or should he say what he just did, all he did was swing his spear, how did the fire get attached!!, he raised his spear to face level and saw the entire spearhead covered in flames as it burnt fiercely,
“This that you see Isaac should be your bloodline ability”
He watched the flames burn down the stick without dropping it, it had already burnt a good part of the spearhead but it was already dying out so he held it and stared as he muttered faint words back to Astral, he was so shocked and confused that he forgot to speak through his mind instead,
An incident happened on the first day when he realized he had something speaking in his head, he was conversing with the voice out of curiosity when he suddenly blurted out his words by mistake, hearing his strange words his three companions all stared at him with different expressions, he still remembered Adam’s odd smirk and the other two’s look of confusion as they stared to see if he was fine.
Realizing he made the same mistake he waved his head to the side staring at the other people embroiled in a fight, he breathed a slight sigh of relief before he brought his attention back to the now burnt out stick with few flickering flames as he voiced his words in his head,
“What did you say… bloodline… ability?”
“You had it in you since that day when I woke up along with the essence, I’m not sure what race this belongs to but I should say it’s not bad.”
“…What are you talking about?”
Silenced reigned in the guy’s mind as the one with the voice would have been shaking his head had he had a physical form, he underestimated the regression that had been brought about, he just hoped it recovered faster.
“*sigh*, call out your status Isaac”
A blank look remained on the poor guy’s face as he pressed his frustration down… would it kill him to speak with normal words, he kept silent until the voice rang up again with a few coughs in his head
“*coughs*… sorry I’ll admit that this time was my fault, so let me start from the beginning shall I?”
“….”
“Hm… you see the essence within you, the sovereign is a living divine organism within you, a special kind of existence. Back when you were at your strongest, you had completely grasped control over the essence, it’s the reason it still obeys properly albeit the low functionality… So what I’m trying to say is that the essence has unique characteristics and abilities, most you can’t access now due to your circumstances, but one that you can is your status.
With the essence being within you, it has the ability to literally scan every iota of your body and take specific measurements and details and then accurate process it to give a list like representation of all the things concerning you within you. What I’m basically trying to say is you have a status screen that you can use to check your status and attributes.”
……
The whole thing was too much for me to take in, I’ll be honest, with all the words said I could only make out a few basic things, I don’t know if it’s because this damn Astral has a way of making the simplest seem complicated, I still don’t know if he’s a parasite who’s secretly eating my brain cells and draining my life force or something else entirely, but I’m pretty sure if he was to have chosen me for a reason, he would have been badly mistaken to expect the IQ of a genius from me, I won’t call myself a fool but I am no smart guy either… well maybe I’m smarter than Harry but that’s as far as it gets. I can feel that Hiya and Adam are on an another level entirely from me and Harry so maybe I should recommend crawling into one of their minds and taking over to him…
“So I have a status screen that shows my status right.”
I could have sworn I heard face palming in my mind but I couldn’t be sure.
“Yes Isaac you do, you can call it out by asking the essence for a display, it records and refreshes the information at a pretty quick rate as well”
I could only listen to him at the moment so I focused on the essence and spoke to it in ways I still had no grasp of, I had already forgotten the existence of others around me at this point so I was a bit surprised as I immediately saw rows of words appear before my eyes like tiny blue worms.
Physical status: Exhausted (Lightly injured)
Mental status: Dazed and confused
Strength: 10
Speed: 13
Flexibility: 11
Constitution: 12
Special attributes:
-Racial:
- Flame manipulation
The whole status screen reminded me of something out of a w*******l, wait what’s a w*******l…
“You can see it clearly right?”
Astral’s voice brought me out of my thoughts as I looked at the screen again, I could see it alright, it was the special attribute thing that got me interested, under what looked to be a division for racial, I saw flame manipulation, that couldn’t get any cooler. I have vague memories of my past, the past I don’t want to remember and yet the memory of being able to do this wasn’t a part of it, so it seemed like something really did change about me on that day.
“Yes I can, and as much as this feels a lot to process I can’t help but feel excited”
“Of course you can’t… Isaac, are you aware that you’re not human?”
The statement caught me by surprise, “Hm? what are you saying”
“A human doesn’t have abilities like listed on your status, at least not a normal human… I realized it ever since that day that you’re actually just half of a human, your physique is obviously human’s which brings me to think that your other bloodline is just awakening, it probably has something to do with the essence but now that’s its awakening it’ll quickly dawn on everyone else.
What I want to ask is do you have any recollection of this blood within you?”
“…No, not at all, I don’t remember… let’s just leave it all like this and forget about this okay.”
“….”
Astral could hear the undertones in his voice but he didn’t call him out for it. It was too bad he hadn’t been awake till now, he could wait and see how everything goes, hopefully according to plan…
“Uhm… Astral?”
“Hm? What is it”
He could hear panic and confusion slowly seeping into Isaac’s voice, emotions that weren’t really far from him at all times, sometimes he wondered how he had actually survived all this while.
It was the next words though that made him feel worry bubble up in his nonexistent body.
“How do I get this thing off my eyes, I need to see”
“…”
“*sigh*, ask the essence to withdraw the display”
And he did just that ignoring the sigh from Astral coated with worry. The words cleared out and after a brief moment of blur his eyes focused on the sight in front of him.
The detestful pig was dead, he reasoned it probably bled to death from the burn wound that went deep. The forest around him was quiet as he looked around to see the other two standing leisurely with the other dead beasts on the ground, the expression they had on their face directed at him was one with puzzlement and worry, they could only speculate what was wrong with him since Adam asked not to shake him out of it.
Isaac turned his head again and saw Adam looking at him with an enigmatic smile on his face, the type he gave him on that day they all thought he was crazy. But other than that he didn’t say anything as the others didn’t as well, he flicked his finger turning the carcasses into dust and turned to the front again and began his walk like always, he didn’t make a single comment, only voicing out a single word
“Let’s go”
So with a hand to scratch his hair, Isaac tugged along with an awkward silence between the three of them trailing behind Adam.
He needed to clear himself of the mental title he knew they had silently branded him with.
