Following the end of Adam ’s sarcastic words a split second later, the scene before everyone’s widened eyes changed as the dark rays piercing through the many bodies rose even further from the ground where it erupted from amidst the already weakening pained screams from the suspended twelve, it rose to a fairly distant height in the sky as the dark thorn like substance seeped out of the twelve bodies like an overflowing batter of thick foamy darkness and rapidly converged around the bodies pierced after which the dark rays abruptly converged to one another, all the immediately rays coming together at an intersecting distance from all the dark rays. Following their abrupt converging, the twitching people all suspended from it also collided with a thundering sound as the sound of cracking bones and splitting flesh erupted consequently after it.
But the horrific sight and sounds were immediately covered up as a swathe of dark lightless energy erupted from the convergence of the dark rays and enveloped the collided bodies in the next second. In the end, what looked like a ball of darkness appeared in midair for a short while before it started to shrink in on itself, growing smaller and smaller at a hair numbing pace until finally the ball of light had actually shrunk to smallest size of an invisible dust particle before finally disappearing completely.
At this moment, the group consisting of twelve hale and healthy fighters had disappeared from the face of the earth in a most mind numbing and bizarre manner possible…
Isaac and the rest could only look on with a dazed and peculiar look in their eyes as they looked from the spot where the group of twelve had vanished from the world leaving only the receding dark whip like thorns from the ground in sight, to the black haired figure who looked on with a nonchalant expression like he had absolutely nothing to do with all what had just happened right now, the somewhat grotesque and chilling sight was a sight they had never witnessed before.
Harry couldn’t help but slightly shiver instinctively as he looked at Adam who was obviously the perpetrator of the recent bloody act. Harry had always been somewhat fearful of Adam , perhaps because of the natural aura he had around him or for another instinctive reason, after that day in the hall when Adam had awkwardly addressed them on the issue when he noticed it, it had substantially calmed his nerves around him, but he was still a little jumpy around Adam , he realized it was an instinct of sorts so there was nothing he could about it, and now today was the day he realized that his instincts had been ringing true all along… he was now starting to believe that Adam was one of death’s beloved grandchild.
Isaac similarly felt slightly shaken as he looked at Adam who still stood calmly with a lazy look in his eyes, he didn’t seem to derive much of anything from what he had just done.
Surprisingly Isaac himself was originally really disturbed by the sight but felt a strange calm wash over him shortly after, he no longer felt disturbed but he still couldn’t help but look at Adam in a different light.
With all the different gazes being directed at him from his own fellow people, Adam could no longer act all lazy and calm, he turned to look at those directing said gazes at him as he said with a shrug,
“You should get used to such sights, the way I see things going, you’ll be seeing a lot of such scenes and possibly worse in the future.”
Without waiting for a reply he continued,
“You guys did good in this fight, you managed to take care of the beasts even after a few mishaps. But this fight was ultimately one where you should work on your co-ordination and cooperation. Fighting together would be way easier and helpful compared to taking them on alone. At least for now, till you’re possibly in the fourth tier, you won’t be able to bring out the overwhelming powers of your class, and in a battle of life and death like one in the tainted zone, if your strength isn’t overwhelming or advantageous, then it’ll only be a battle of petty tricks and attrition. That kind of fighting strength honestly isn’t exactly respect worthy.”
Harry held back his apprehensiveness as he spoke up with a question he had been itching to ask,
“Adam, what exactly are we fighting for. I mean what is it that’s happening that you’re trying to get us ready for…”
Adam couldn’t stop himself from lifting a corner of his lips in a smirk as silence pervaded the air for a little while. Hiya and Isaac also stared intently at Adam as the same thought rang curiously in their heads, the one being questioned finally spoke up after a short while,
“Well to be honest with you, you’re fighting for yourself, you’re fighting to get stronger… and as for what’s happening… there’s nothing really happening right now actually, it’s more about what’s to come…”
Although he said it like he meant what he said, he also chose not to say much more about it, knowing too much now wouldn’t help them in any way, and he also actually didn’t expect much from them, what he knew was to inevitably come was actually way more than many if not most people could stand tall to face. If they learnt about it later and decided to back out, he wouldn’t hold it against them. Of course when he said them, he meant Harry and Hiya, if Isaac tried to back out he’d kick his behind right back to the frontline, not that he ever felt Isaac could do such a thing though.
Harry looked on with a thoughtful gaze, he reflected on what Adam said as it was a question that had been on his mind for a while. In the end he shook his head and tossed it to the back of his mind, since Adam had said it, it should be as he said. He couldn’t really be bothered to think much about it, when it came to thinking deeply, his mind always grew fuzzy and unfocused when he had such thoughts in his head for too long.
If it was going to be any different from what he said then so be it, although he had only been acquaintances with this group for a time close to about a year, he couldn’t feel any bad intentions or something of that sort. It was how he was, perhaps because he never spent too much time thinking about things, his mind had instead gained a psychic method of discerning truths and intentions, and apart from Hiya who always seemed so mysterious and secretive, he felt nothing negative. It was why although he didn’t quite like Hiya, he had come to accept her as she was.
His motto in life was pretty simple; ‘No bad intentions, we can be good friends then’
Hiya on the other hand, looked at the spot where a little m******e had just occurred before turning her gaze to Adam before ultimately looking away with an odd light flickering through her eyes.
She had just been fuming tremendously inside at the dozen weaklings for men and had almost stepped forward to make a move when Adam stepped forward instead. He always seemed so uncaring and lazy when it came to most things despite the efforts he seemed to put, so she was surprised when he stepped forward, was he perhaps… but the thought seemed so absurd she tossed it out of her mind immediately, this group of males beside her had oddly never shown any inclination or attraction towards her, so why now.
In the end, she could only sigh at Adam ’s unreadable actions as she said nothing else.
