Beatitudes

Episode 52.

 I swung my sword twice for a good grasp on it as I charged forward, all the weakness I was beginning to feel due to the battle escaping through my pores. I laughed excitedly as I met the beast halfway through its charge, employing the same tactic, I swerved to the right avoiding its sharp horn that aimed to skewer me for what I had done.

The beast had put all it energy into the charge so there was no way for it to move away or change position, it was basically a lamb for the s*******r, and slaughtering it was what I intended to do as I swung my sword upwards with a mighty burst of energy. The edge of the sword coming in contact with the formerly thick and tough hide on its neck as it met no such obstruction this time, cutting all the way through with no pause or obstruction.

The headless beast continued its full speed throttle as it left behind its head that spun once in the air before dropping to the floor under the effect of gravity.

It was only until the head hit the ground with a thud sound did the spectators come out of their dazedness. Harry  and Hiya in particular looked on with surprise at the black and golden haired youth as the  rays of the final sun of the nine finally disappeared completely beyond the horizons as if showing its acknowledgement of the ending of the battle.

The scene before them was all too unexpected and hard to believe, if you considered the fact that the youth before their eyes was just, not too long ago, basically shuffling from side to side as he desperately avoided being trampled upon. It was someone had just reprogrammed the whole fight scene to go on in an overpowered manner, because that was exactly how it had ended… If it wasn’t for the fact that his miserable scene of almost losing to the beast was still clear in their heads, the battle would have been one to be termed flawless.

From the emergence of the shield, to the beast finally getting injured and to the evasive maneuver and effortless decapitation, it all seemed so effortless and easy that Harry  and the rest would have had to give full marks for his performance.

A thrill was running through his every being as he sighed in relief, but Isaac was cut short in his reveling as Astral ’s voice rang out again in his head,

Astral : you shouldn’t feel so relieved that you forget to draw out its curse energy Isaac, you barely got through this battle you know…

Isaac felt like a bucket of cold water was poured all over him as Astral ’s voice reminded him of the almost despairing battle before he gained understanding of his ability, his face was an alternation between anger and embarrassment as he mumbled some inaudible words to himself.

He recalled the words Adam  said with regards to absorbing the curse energy as he closed his eyes and felt a strange presence that wasn’t there previously wrapping around him, he felt a question pop into his head and pretty soon he felt a foreign yet familiar type of energy seep into his body, travelling deeper all the way through his body till it reached the spinning white spiral, wherever it was within him. The slowly spinning spiral reacted like a parched throat to water as it began to spin vigorously.

This time, Isaac didn’t need to make any effort for it to spin like so as it automatically began to absorb the foreign energy, Isaac could only watch as a white stream of energy melded with the spiral as strand after strand was formed quickly.

Surprisingly, the whole process continued for only a little while before the white stream of energy ended abruptly. Isaac opened up his eyes with surprise as he mumbled to himself,

“This took way shorter time than Harry ’s…”

“It took a way shorter because there’s a difference.”

Hearing his comment while descending with the black cloud beneath their feet from their standpoint in the air, Adam  replied Isaac as he continued,

“Like I said before, every single living creature existing in this world has a composition of every single possible energy existing, but in differing quantities, naturally the laws of the world creates a bond between the different energies in a body holds every thing together so there’s no way to ascertain the proper composition… but due to the curse on these beasts, they’re the only creatures exempted from those laws and bond. Hence after several tests with them, a difference has been established in the composition of these energy types in every single race. In other words, the different attributes of every race causes their composition of the worldly energies to be different… let’s not go into too much details, these particular tainted beasts are composed more of negative energies, violent and turbulent energies, the type of energy which I don’t expect yours to be a part of…”

“…”

After spending a while to digest the information, Isaac finally spoke up again,

“So… what you mean to say is that, Harry  gets all the more energy from these beasts than I do...”

Adam  had a lazy look on his face as he replied, “Exactly what I mean”

I felt a different kind of anger burn in me  as I looked to Harry  who was still taking all those words in and said,

“Lucky you…” to which he replied confused when he saw the look I gave him, “Thanks?”

I closed my eyes and breathed in and out steadily for a few rounds, I didn’t want the sour fact informing me that despite how much effort I’d put in hunting these damn beasts I’ll always get lesser than someone else put my happy mood off and make me feel all kinds of angry, so I ignored the odd looks they gave me while they watched me calm myself down as I checked my status, something I hadn’t given much attention for a while…

 [U1]Some of you might have question concerning the fact that Isaac seems way stronger than Harry but he almost couldn’t beat the Agbadokan. There are actually reasons for that,

The first being the beast being resistant to fire that was mentioned in the conversation between Adam and Horace.

The second being the fact that although Harry seems a little compared to others, his rage multiplication allows him a great boost in his physical attributes like all berserkers have one kind of boost or the other. Hence his being able to take on the wolf.

Also Isaac is a little unrefined in his battles and body control, for now at least…

Also, if any of you are wondering and worrying about Harry ’s growth. You should take note from what Adam just said about different energy compositions, that Harry would actually have an advantage in growth when they battle beast in the untainted zone.
