Chapter 5

“Just go back,” Franklin teased. “I will. Next vacation,” she shot back, making everyone laugh. After the laughter faded, Sarah asked softly, “How is she doing?” “She can be discharged anytime,” Joseph replied. “She just needs to come back in a week for a check-up.” “That’s a relief,” Sarah sighed. Same Morning – Marino Mob Club Room The mob’s private club room pulsed with loud music and the presence of its most skilled members. It was their territory, a place only authorized people were allowed to enter. Felix, dressed in his usual all-black attire, lounged comfortably in a cushioned chair with his mask removed. Several girls surrounded him as he drank straight from a bottle, watching them dance provocatively in front of him. Wearing thin-strap bras and panties, they moved freely, their hands sliding over their bodies as they performed. But his attention wasn’t on them. It was on her. Jenny. Eighteen. Skilled. Dangerous. And his closest female associate. His gaze locked onto her like a flame, steady and consuming. She felt it. And she enjoyed it. Her movements slowed, becoming more deliberate. Her body swayed with purpose as her hands traced along her own skin in a teasing rhythm. As the music thumped through the room, she moved closer and closer until she stood directly in front of him. She twerked lightly against his leg before settling onto it, then shifted and straddled him fully. Her hips rolled with calm confidence as she gave him a playful wink. Felix’s grip tightened around the bottle. His jaw clenched slightly as his eyes darkened. Jenny leaned closer, her lips brushing his ear as she whispered in a warm, low voice. “Do you want me, Fox?” A low sound escaped him. His hands moved immediately, gripping her hips and pulling her firmly against him. The other girls faded from his attention. The music blurred. For a moment, it was only the two of them. Heat. Tension. Control. Felix closed the distance and captured her lips in a deep kiss. Jenny responded instantly, moving against him as if she had been waiting for it. Their movements were intense and reckless. Until a voice cut through the moment. “Fox. The boss wants to see you.” Mia’s voice broke the atmosphere instantly. Felix pulled back, irritation flashing across his face. “Not now,” he muttered. “Off, Jenny,” Mia said coldly. Jenny paused, then slowly climbed off him, avoiding Mia’s gaze. Felix stood without another word and walked out with Mia. As they stepped away, Mia spoke sharply. “Know your place. Disobey me again and I won’t hesitate to eliminate you.” Jenny scoffed and folded her arms. “Felix won’t allow that.” Mia’s lips curled into a cold smile. “You think you matter?” she said. “You’re just a distraction… a way for him to pass the time.” She turned and walked away. Jenny clenched her fists, anger flashing across her face. “That’s not true.” Steven’s Office As Felix stepped inside the office, a glass cup suddenly flew toward him. He tilted his head slightly, letting it crash and shatter harmlessly against the wall behind him. His expression didn’t change. “I can’t believe what I just heard!” Steven’s voice cracked with fury. “You grazed her arm? I explicitly ordered you to eliminate her, and this is what you did?” His tone rose, sharp and dangerous. Felix walked forward slowly, his steps calm and deliberate. “You summoned me for this?” he asked, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “You ruined my fun over this?” Steven stared at him in disbelief. “I aimed for her,” Felix continued smoothly. “But she was protected. I missed. That’s it.” “Protected? By whom? Who could stop you? Who has skills that rival yours?” Steven slammed his fist onto the desk, making the papers shake. Felix’s gaze remained steady and unreadable. “And honestly… I wasn’t in the mood to kill yesterday.” “Mood?” Steven repeated, the word barely leaving his lips. “I declined the task because of my mood. You forced me to accept it. Things didn’t go as planned.” Felix shrugged. “This is the first time you’ve ever missed a target!” Steven’s face turned red with anger. “Mr. Marino… first times happen,” Felix replied calmly. “Mine happened yesterday. Who knows when it will happen again.” Steven’s hand trembled slightly as he tried to process the casual threat hidden in Felix’s tone. “I know you’ve been swayed by her!” Steven shouted. “Her?” Felix said calmly. “That ended a decade ago. It won’t start again. Calm down and stop inventing stories.” Steven fell silent, his mind racing. Is he implying there will always be a next time?
