He paused. It seems he doesn't want to understand me. That I'm not interested in what he called a contract marriage! I think he is offering all this out of desperation to snatch Martha away from me.
And what if, after offering all this mouthwatering present, Martha turned out not to be his daughter? What happens? Is he actually putting all this into consideration? Or what he is after is to get me first?
