I didn't say anything else other than invite her up.
“Go on up. I'll be with you in a sec.“ I just need to talk to Dorothy for a bit.
“Sure.“ I resisted the urge to hold her hand briefly. I watched her get into the elevator before I turned to my sister.
She had an unreadable look on her face as she watched me watch her.
“So, you're really serious about her, huh?“
“What were you saying to her?“ I completely disregarded her question.
“None of your business.“ I rarely felt anger at Dorothy, but she was pushing me to my limits right now.
“I need to know.“
She rolled her eyes. “Fine. I only warned her not to mess with you or I'm going to hurt her.“ Of all the things I expected her to say, I did not expect her to say that.
