“Why aren't you answering me?“ Cecilia looked like she was angry enough to hurt me, but I simply ignored her.
“How many times do I have to tell you this, Cecilia?“
“What?“
“I do not answer to you. You're my wife. You have absolutely no control over how I choose to go about my life.“
She looked enraged and like she was going to cry at the same time. Her lips wobbled, and her eyes glowed in anger.
Jeff remained frozen in his tracks, terrified that I was going to blame him for what just happened.
“Christopher,” she called me by my full name. “You're not going to defend yourself?“
“Come on, Cece, you know me more than enough. I could lie to you, yes, and you'd believe me, but now you're going to think I care about what you think or something. I do not care.“
