Immediately the sun set, I gathered my bag I had packed the previous night, and I sneaked out of the house. I need to run far away from here. They were monsters; I couldn’t believe they would go as far as selling me off to a cruel Alpha.
I increased my pace as the thought of getting caught by them scared me. I don’t know where I was going, but all I was thinking of was getting away from them.
“Stop right there! I heard a voice say, and my instinct kicked in, and I started to run as fast as my legs could carry me.
“Christine! Stop right there!” My foster father calls out again as he chases after me. I felt a rush of air near me, and when I turned to look back, my foster father was about to grab my shoulder. I increased my pace, and just when I thought I had gotten away, I tripped, falling flat on my face. My nose hit the ground, and pain shot through my body.
“Ouch!” I screamed in pain, and when I looked up, I saw that I had been caught. I was dragged back to the house, and as soon as we got inside, my foster father slapped me before throwing me to the floor.
“Do you really think you can run away from me? You ungrateful muff!” He fumes in anger. I was panting heavily at the marathon race I just took. My foster mother and Abigail stared at me like I was mad. I'm mad for trying to run away from them.
“Lock her inside the basement till the Alpha’s men come.” At the mention of the basement, goosebumps filled my body, and I started to beg.
"Please, not the basement. I promise I won’t run off again. Please don’t lock me up in the basement.” I begged as I started to cry.
Tears filled my eyes as they roughly pushed me down the basement. My body rolled down the stairs before hitting the cold floor. I quickly got up and ran up the stairs; they shut the door before I could reach up. I started banging at the door as fear filled my body.
Locking me up in the basement is the worst punishment ever. I had only ugly memories of this place.
Let me out! I banged the door in rage, but all I could hear was them laughing at my trauma. They know how much I hated being here. I soon grew tired, and I sat on the stairs of the basement as I cried in pain.
Maybe going to Alpha’s palace is better than enduring this never-ending torture I had to go through with this family, but Alpha Damien is known to be cruel. What if I go through something worse than this there?
Several thoughts made their way into my head as my eyes soon grew tired, and I closed my eyes to sleep.
I woke up the next morning when I felt something cold being poured on my body. I was being drenched in water, and I sprang up.
“Time to leave this house for good; the Alpha’s men are here for you. Abigail said, smiling. I guess she is so happy to know that I will be gone for good.
I walked out of the basement, and my bag was already waiting for me on the floor. My foster mom had a big smile on her face; they all seemed very happy today.
“Get your stinky body out of my house! I can’t believe my days of misery have come to an end.
“Thanks to the Alpha for buying such a useless parasite from me! He turns to the guard. Tell the Alpha I said thank you; make sure you tell him that.” Tears welled up in my eyes, as I couldn’t believe just how much they hate me.
Why on earth did Alpha Damien buy her anyway? “She is nothing but a worthless omega! I hear Abigail scoff.
They pushed me out of the door and threw my bag on me, but they shut their door. The guard guided me into the carriage as we made our way to the palace.
I, too, couldn’t place my hands on any reason why the Alpha would buy me. I breathed a sign as my chest was heavy. I prayed silently to the moon goddess that my life in the palace would be so much better. Even if I get treated badly, I hope I won’t be starved and locked up in a dark basement.
How long does it take to get to the palace? I asked one of the guards, and he completely ignored me. I turned my gaze back to the road, as I felt like someone had pierced a needle into my heart. Maybe it was the fear of the unknown.
We will get to the Blood Moon pack soon! He finally answered, and my heart lit up, as I didn’t expect him to answer me. No one has actually answered my question before or even acknowledged me once.
We soon arrived at the Bloodmoon pack, and I noticed it was the complete opposite of the Red Moon pack. As I stepped out of the carriage, a middle-aged woman walked up to me.
“Come with me; I will take you to your room. She turned swiftly and started to walk away as I followed her closely. We passed through an almost dark hallway, and she stopped in front of a door. Before pulling out a bunch of keys, She kept trying each key until the door was finally unlocked. She opened the door and walked in, and I followed suit.
“This is your room.” I glanced around the room. The room wasn’t overly decorated; it was simple—just a big bed frame, a mirror, and a wardrobe—but I had never had anything like this to myself before. I didn’t even notice when tears started to roll down my cheeks. I looked back at her, and I felt like giving her a big hug.
“Thank you, Miss, for showing me my room. I said to her,
“Call me, Miss Rosa. Alright, you can settle in and clean up. A maid has been assigned to you, and she will soon be here.” She said this before turning to leave.
I opened the door on the other side of the room, and I was surprised to see a bathroom inside my room. More tears started to flow down my eyes, and I remembered how my foster parents had forbidden me from using the same bathroom with them. They had built a small bathroom at the back of the house for me.
They treated me like I had diseases and would infect them with them. I didn’t also have a room to myself as I slept close to the kitchen on an old, worn-out foam that felt like I was sleeping on the bare floor. I jumped on the bed as I felt the comfort of having a bed for the first time. I smiled to myself as I felt happiness wash through me.
I heard a knock on the door and rushed to open it. In front of me was a young girl around my age.
“The Alpha wants to meet with you. Lady Rosa also said I should tell you to wash up and prepare. I would take you to him. My heart spat as fear came over me.
My heart was beating fast as Mei prepared me to meet the Alpha. I didn’t know what to expect.
Will he have s*x with me? The thought of losing my virginity to someone other than my mate didn’t sit well with me. He just wants me to bear an heir for him, and he would let me go. I reminded myself.
Mei led me down to the Alpha’s room, and as we got to a large door, she left me and turned back. I knocked on the door softly, and I heard a deep voice tell me to come in. I felt chills come over my body as I turned the door knob. I walked into the door as I sensed a powerful aura. His aura was quite mysterious and, at the same time, intoxicating.
As his eyes met mine, Blair, my wolf, woke up. She has been sleeping all week.
He is ours.
mate! She squirmed, and I didn’t know when the word left my mouth.
“Mate”
