After returning to Hamilton's house, Rena got into her room. The general was sleeping at the end of her bed.
When they went to the cruise ship to attend the wedding, Adam wanted to foster the general to a pet shop, but Rena said she would take him directly to her home and ask her brother to look after it for two days.
As soon as she saw the general, she couldn't help thinking of Adam. Lying next to the general, holding it with outstretched hands, gently stroking its soft fur, as if asking the general, or talking to herself: "Do you miss Dad?"
The general wagged his tail.
"Do you think your dad doesn't like me?” she continued “I fell into the water and drowned, and he didn't save me. Is it too much? Do you think I should hate him?"
