Chapter 12: Lauren“Silke?” Lauren tapped lightly on her door. “Uh, hey, I know it’s early for you, but I have to be at work at seven, so we need to leave soon if I’m going to drop you off on my way.” She heard a thud and a muttered curse from the other side of the door—she didn’t have to speak German to figure that one out—and quickly moved out of the way. Silke flew by in a blur as she headed for the bathroom. Lauren went to the kitchen to gather her lunch, and quickly threw some leftovers into Tupperware for Silke as well.
