Chapter- 6

In MishNa Mansion ( Nandu's home )

Nandu was having dinner with her parents.

Shekhar: Shona, ithna kya masti thi ?

Nandu: Arey Appa, mene bathaya tha na, 2 saal ke baad mil rahe the navya aur mein. Tho bohat masti karne the. (She hated herself for lying to her parents but she knew they will forgive her once her dream gets fulfilled. )

Shamishti: Teek hai. Tum dono tho kabhi bhi bade nahi hone wale hai.

Nandu smiled sheepishly.

Shamishti: Shona, tujhe hospital kab join karni hai ?

Nandu: From tomorrow on wards mumma. I will be leaving at 8:30 am.

Shamishti: What ? Ithni jaldi ? Will you be able to wake up this early everyday ?

Nandu ( smiled ): Anything to complete my dream.

Shekhar ( confused ): Dream ? You are already a doctor princess, then how come its a dream ?

Nandu ( Oh s**t ): Umm Appa, I meant ki, I still have to gain a name, you know i need to be a well known cardiologist of India.

Shekhar ( smiled ): You were the best intern in London and you have even worked as a cardiologist for 1 month after completing your studies. And you were known as the best young doctor there.

Nandu: I know Appa. But, now we are in India and neither they know me nor my talent. So I need to work hard.

He smiled at her and he was proud of her. They retired to their rooms.

In Malhotra Mansion

The whole family has settled in the living room and were having dessert.

Manik: Mm..YUMMY..its soo tasty mums...

Nyonika,Arpita and Anjali: Thank you beta..( Manik calls nyonika- mom, arpita- ary mumma and anjali-mumma )

Arpita: Manu, till when will you compliment your mums ?

Manik: Mathlab ?

Anjali: Mathlab yahi ki, when will you let us hear a compliment from you for our Bahu ?

Manik: Not again mumma, you know i am not interested in marriage now. Moreover nobody can beat my mums in cooking.

Anjali: Like seriously manu. You are 26 and you still are not interested in marriage , not even in dating ?

Cabir: Mujhe lagtha hai Bhai wont get married soon. Mumma ek kaam karthe hai ,aap meri shadi karwalo pehle.

Mukti: Tujhe badi jaldi hai shadi keliye ?

Dhruv: Of course. After all Bhabi tho all ready hai..kyu Cabir ?

Manik: But i still don't know how she accepted to be your gf!!

They started laughing..

Cabir: Kyunki mein aap jaise stay-away-from-me-ladies type ke nahi hai..I proposed her and she accepted it, simple.

Manik: Acha. Tho phir usne notice nahi kiya hoga ki usne ek joker ko haan keh diya..

Cabir: Agar aapko jokes kehna aatha nahi tho iska mathlab ye nahi na ki mujhe bhi jokes nahi aana chahiye.

Before they could continue they were stopped by Nyonika.

Nyo: Manu , why are you troubling Cabu..

Manik: Yeh sahi hai mom, mistake usne ki aur punishment mujhe, not fair mumma.

Anjali: Not to worry Manu, mumma is with you.

Manik grinned like a child and hugged her and smirked at nyonika and cabir.

Cabir: Its okay. I have my Mom( nyo ).

They both hi-fied.

Arpita: Acha chalo, tum dono baad me lado, lets discuss about Manu's marriage. ( said an excited arpita who was messaging Mukti's head by now )

Manik: Ary mumma, please no. I dont wanna get married and bring some problems in our life.

Arpita: What do you mean Manu ?

Manik: Mum, look at our family. See how happy we are. Once I get married then I will bring a new girl in our family, what if she creates problems in our life, what if she doesn't love us like how we love each other ?

The mothers smiled at their son's cute worry. While Daadu shaked his head in disbelief. He called Manik near him.

Daadu: Tumhe kya tumhare mums ko dekhar aese lagtha hai ki wo iss parivaar mein koi issues create kiya ?

Manik: Of course not Daadu. In fact they are the happiness of our family.

Daadu: Phir tum soch kese sakthe ho ki tumhare hone wali beewi humareliye problem banegi ?

Manik was confused...

Daadu: When Raj got married, I was the most happiest person. You know why ? ( Manik nodded in no ) Because i got a daughter in my life. I have 3 sons, God didn't gift me with a daughter, but indeed he knows the best.Daughters are blessings of God but what we forget is one day we will give this gift of ours to someone else. Sons on the other hand will bring us daughters. The same way like how my 3 sons brought my 3 daughters. Trust me, the most happiest moment was when I heard Papa from my daughters. They lighted this mansion with LOVE.

Nyonika, Arpita and Anjali were in tears by now. Its true daughters are gifts but they always had a fear that what will happen once they leave their parents and go to their in-laws house, will they get the same love and freedom there ? This question was answered beautifully in Malhotra daughter-in-laws cases. They became the daughters of that house, and now they are the queens of malhotra house.

Manik: But Daadu, it doesn't mean that she will be like my mums.

Daadu: It doesn't mean she will be like you think also. right?

Manik nodded.

Daadu: So now what do you think ?

Manik: Huh..OKAY Daadu, I will give a chance but no to arrange marriage. I want to be her friend first, wanna know her, i want to know whether she will fit in my family or not, then only marriage.

Daadu ( smiled ): As you say, kam se kam shaadi ke liya haan keh diya warna mujhe laga tu kunwara rahega.

Manik's lips formed to a perfect 'O' with a horrified expression. Rest of them laughed. Soon Manik smirked.

Manik: Kunwara ka tho patha nahi but if something sort of it happens then its sure that you wouldn't see any grand grand kids.

Daadu: What? Why?

Manik: Arey what and why ? Don't you kno its our tradition that the first whom will marry in our family will be the eldest and since am the eldest and if I dont marry then none of these will marry so no grand grand kids..kyu sahi kaha na Mom ?

Nyonika nodded while controlling her laughter.

Daadu's laughter flew away and so cabir's.

Cabir: Bhai, ye konsa tradition hai ?

Manik: Yeh Malhotra's ki tradition hai.

Cabir: Par bohat ghatiya tradition hai. Daadu, bohat jaldi inki shadi karlo. Warna aap mere koi bache ko nahi dekh payenge.

Daadu: Oye khote chup kar. Mujhe tho bade Daadu banna hai, sirf tera nahi balki tum charon ke bache ka Bade Daadu.

Cabir: Bhai ka tho patha nahi. Jo insaan ek ladki ko bhi propose nahi kar sakthe wo bacha kaise paida karenge ?( and he started laughing while Manik was embarrased and glared at cabir )

Manik: Cabur...ruk tu..mein batha tha hoon.

And there started a tom and jerry fight much to the family's happiness..

Next morning..

Daadu: Manik, tum jao. Mujhe aaj mandir jaana hai.

Manik: Oh aaj Tuesday hai na. Chal teek hai Daadu, mein nikaltha hoon..uh meeting 10:30 pe hai.

Daadu nodded and manik drove off.

Manik's POV

Mumbai is famous for many things but the most important things is its traffic. Its so annoying that I need to wait till this block gets over. I was just frustrated and suddenly my eyes stopped at a the child vendor who was selling flowers in the roadside. He might be of 10 or 12 years old ,he had a small cart on which he was selling flowers. I didn't have the driver with me or else i would have got out and bought some flowers,at least it would help him somehow. This child remind me of her, Nandini, sorry, jungli billi, don't know why but i feel like she is somewhere near me. But suddenly a girl came near that child. Her back was facing me but i feel like I know her,Manik tum pagal ho kya..first that Nandini and now this girl,seriously I need a psychiatric . I was about to take my eyes off her but suddenly she turned and i was stunned rather shocked.

It was her, it was jungli billi, it was Nandini...GOD am i dreaming..Let me pinch me, I pinched..Ouch..that was hard but still she is there which means its not a dream..She bought flowers..It was lavender..

She started smelling it and she smiled..she had a beautiful smile, in fact she herself is beauty,that day she was in traditional look, she was beautiful and today she looks HOT too..Manik Malhotra get a grip on yourself, you are loosing, your are checking a girl..but still I feel like i have that right on her..why? Hey she is moving..where did she go..shit i missed her..HORN HORN...perfect timing, even this traffic block got cleared now, for the first time in my life i cursed these people for clearing the traffic..come on Manik if its destined you will see her again..hopefully..
