Caspian, Diana, and Jurien were all stunned into silence as they were confronted with an alarming sight - a vast field filled with thousands of sleeping vampires, protected from the sun's deadly rays by a canopy of trees and makeshift shelters.
It seemed as though there was a sea of them, stretching on for miles and covering every inch of the earth. It looked like King Raemon had emptied the entire Dalmatian kingdom, and all the vampires were gathered here, getting ready to attack Xania.
“How many do you think are down there?” Diana asked beside him. Caspian looked over at her, still not entirely comfortable with the idea of her coming with them. But he held his tongue and replied, “Probably tens of thousands.”
“Maybe even a hundred thousand,” Jurien added.
