“Happy birthday, Mommy! I love you!”
These were the greetings Marie, Elina, and Henry showered Emilia with as she woke up that morning.
Before she could even get out of bed, the three of them were already beside her. Elina was holding a cake, carefully supported by Marie.
Emilia smiled broadly. “Wow! Thanks, you three!”
Every birthday, this was the scene that greeted her upon waking. But she never, ever got tired of it. It was one of her most treasured memories.
“Blow the cake, Mommy, and make a wish,” Elina said with a smile.
Emilia nodded and smiled. She closed her eyes and made her wish, just like she had the night before. And after that, she blew the cake.
She hugged Elina. “Thank you, sweetheart.”
